Bo Ai Animal Protection Centre Of Guangyuan
As our founder Du Yufeng & volunteer Yang were returning back to Du’s house, they found this beautiful black Labrador tied to the stair rail.
He was dirty and appeared depressed and on closer inspection they found a cannula in his right front leg held in place by a dirty bandage so it looked like the Labrador had been having some kind of ongoing treatment.
He was very friendly and despite obviously looking and probably feeling unwell he managed to wag his tail. He was taken to the vets for blood tests and to have the cannula removed.
He had a small infection under his lower eyelid which will be treated with probiotics.
Du named the Labrador 铁蛋 Tiě Dàn.
When the blood tests came back, they showed that there was nothing wrong with his stomach or intestines so this was good news. He is having small, frequent bland meals to build his strength up and prevent him from keep being sick.
The results did however show that Tiě Dàn has Canine Parvovirus. This may be the reason why the cannula was still in Tiě Dàn’s vein and for whatever reason, his previous owners could not afford to carry on his treatment. This is why we advocate for vaccinating pets because suffering like this can be prevented.
Tiě Dàn has been adopted! One of the Chuan Bei Preschool teachers has adopted him. We are very happy. He is going to a good home and will have a happy life. We have a good relationship with the school and know the teachers and we will get to see Tiě Dàn regularly too. Such good news.
