Tibetan Mastiffs were once prized by wealthy Chinese. Now, they are not 'trendy' and are often found in trucks headed for slaughter. This, once proud and healthy, Tibetan Mastiff was found on the streets near to the bus station. She was dirty, depressed and very hungry! Our founder, Du Yufeng, gave her some food then she and one of our shelter volunteers encouraged the Mastiff to get in Du's car. Once in the car the Mastiff seemed to know she was safe now. Back at the shelter, Du tidied the Mastiff up and bathed her sore eyes.
It is really upsetting to see this magnificent dog just skin and bones. She will likely stay at the shelter for the rest of her life, along with the other Tibetan Mastiffs that we have because no one wants this breed anymore.
