URGENT!! CAN YOU HELP THIS POODLE? We received a call telling us that a Poodle had been hit by a car. Our founder, Du Yufeng, rushed to the scene and took the Poodle home. She kept him comfortable until the vet surgery opened and then took him to see Dr Li. Dr Li sedated the Poodle and gave him an x ray. The result was very bad news. The Poodle had a broken neck. Dr Li does not have the facilities to treat the Poodle. We need to take dog to Chengdu but the surgery will cost approx 10,000 Chinese Yuan. Can you help? The cost of a coffee or more? If the Poodle does not get the surgery he needs he could be paralyzed for life or worse. Time is of the essence now and we need to take him to Chengdu as soon as possible. Your donation will be greatly appreciated. Please click on the Donate button opposite to help. Thank you. UPDATES BELOW:- THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! OUR DONATION TARGET OF 10,000 CHINESE YUAN HAS BEEN REACHED!! The little poodle with the broken neck is being rushed to a veterinary surgery in Chengdu because of your donations and shares. Thanks to your generosity and with your continual donations, he will be given the best veterinary treatment, surgery and, follow up care and rehabilitation. We will post updates as they happen. Again, THANK YOU for your support. Our founder Du Yufeng made the journey to Chengdu with the little Poodle and he has been monitored in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) overnight. Later this morning, the veterinary surgeon will assess him and determine the surgery to be performed. The Poodle we took to Chengdu with your donations is doing well. After the long journey by car from our shelter, the vets wanted him to rest and they have monitored him for the past couple of days. While he was being monitored, he had his neck strapped up to keep it stable and he was given intravenous fluids and painkillers. The vets will be having a meeting to discuss what to do next and which procedure will be best for him. It will be a long recovery, whichever procedure they decide on, for this little boy. When he is recovered we want him to be happy and we know he will be. So... we have named him Le Le, meaning happy. We will update again once the vets have spoken to our founder Du Yufeng. Le Le, the poodle with the broken neck, will remain in I.C.U (Intensive Care Unit) in Chengdu. Orthopedic and Neurology veterinary surgeons there have discussed the best treatment for him. Along with x rays, Le Le has had scans so that vets can see the bone and tissue better. Although Le Le was rescued by us after he was hit by a car, one of the scans showed that the neck fracture had already started to heal itself meaning this little boy has had a hard time on the streets, walking around with a broken neck! Who knows what happened to him before we rescued him? Because of this, Doctor Shao has decided that the best option for Le Le is no surgery because his own body is healing itself well, but it is not all good news... One of the scans also showed blood clots on Le Le's brain which put him at risk of a stroke. He is being monitored closely and given medicines. Le Le will stay in Chengdu for approx 8-10 weeks. He is a little fighter. Access to this ongoing expert care, amenities and Le Le's eventual rehabilitation would not have been possible without your donations and shares so, on behalf of Le Le, thank you! Dr Niu at the Chengdu veterinary hospital explained to our founder, Du Yufeng, why an operation wasn't needed to repair Le Le, the red poodle's neck. He explains- "As you can see there is a crack here, but not a big one. Why we recommend strrapping (the neck up) but not surgery is because it has been (more than) 7 days when he was admitted to our clinic and the bone has grown. If we were to proceed with surgery, we will need to remove the new bone growth and there are risks of damaging the nerves. That was why we decided the non invasive method to let his bone grow and heal itself". Le Le is doing very well. Dr Niu is really pleased with his progress but he will still need to stay in Chengdu to be monitored and have regular x rays and scans to see how well the bone regrowth is doing and also to keep a check on the brain clots. Le Le is eating well too. Le is doing really well, be is eating and looking forward to all his meals! The vets are very pleased with his progress. He is sharing a cage with the other poodle who we took to Chengdu for expert orthopedic surgery. Le Le is making his voice heard. He is demanding the attention of the vets and nurses! They are also pleased with his progress because he is walking well and the brain clots don't appear to be causing him issiues, although he will still be monitored for those and receive medicines.
Le Le is back in Guangyuan, at Du's house. He is doing well although he will still have to wear the bandage for a while longer on his neck. The little black Poodle, with 2 broken legs, who joined him in Chengdu was given the name Jin Er and he is back at Du's home too. Both Poodles have learned their names and come when Du calls them, We hope they will be available for adoption in a few months time. If you are interested in adopting one or both of them, please contact us.
