This is a story of how Animal Rights in China is still a long road to travel.
We not only have to fight the Dog Meat Trade, we also educate to raise animal welfare awareness to children and adults about responsible dog ownership.
We received a call from a concerned member of the public who told us that when some villagers moved to their new high rise home, their dog was left behind at the demolished site of their old home. The loyal dog waited days and nights in the cold weather for her human family to return for her. Her rib bones were clearly visible and she was not interested in any food that our founder Du Yufeng offered her. It also looked like she had given birth but we found no puppies in the surrounding area.
Because of her loyalty waiting for her owner day after day, Du named her Li Ming 黎明 (meaning Dawn) to symbolize her wait for a new beginning.
As soon as Du put Li Ming into her car, she pooed leaves, rotten food and other debris. She had clearly been at the site for a long time, trying to scavenge what she could find to eat.
She was forced to eat these things or starve.
Li Ming is depressed and we are trying to help to build up her strength and her trust. It will take time but we are confident that she will be ok.
Rescues and rehabilitations like Li Ming’s are thanks to your donations.
Watch a video of Li Ming's rescue below;
Li Ming has settled in to the shelter very well and has come out of her depression. She is a beautiful, happy girl now.
Li Ming now has the most wonderful home in the UK. She lives with her dad, Callum and her furry siblings, one of whom was rescued by Callum from slaughter in China.
Now, her family will never leave her again.
