Lucy touched so many hearts. She was so kind and patient even though she was experiencing excruciating pain. We needed over $2000 in donations to help her and you didn't disappoint us. Here is Lucy's story: Our founder Du Yufeng received a call from a farmer about an Alaskan Malamute that couldn't move. Du had been meeting with friends at our shelter so they grabbed blankets, jumped in the car and drove to the spot where the Malamute was; in the middle of a field under a bypass. Rubbish and rubble had been dumped around the area which led Du to believe that the Malamute had been dumped too. Disregarded and left to suffer in pain. After assessing and trying to encourage the Malamute to stand, Du quickly realised something was very wrong so everyone worked together to carry the dog to Du's car. Doctor Li was waiting for them at the pet hospital. UPDATE: The Alaskan Malamute we rescued (now named Lucy in memory of one of our volunteer's dogs) was examined by Doctor Li and as he was feeling her back end he knew her pelvis was broken with x-rays confirming it. Doctor Li estimates that Lucy is about ONE YEAR old! SO much pain and neglect in such a short life. Her coat was full of ticks, hundreds of them and a blood test revealed she is severely anaemic. Lucy hadn't been to the toilet so was given an enema and is comfortable now. After being prodded and poked all day, she was given painkillers and put in a cage to wait for them to work. Du offered her food but Lucy had had enough and snarled at Du but Du totally understands that she's had a lot to deal with. In order to mend her bones we'll need to take her to Chengdu to Doctor Zhong's pet hospital where it is equipped for that kind of surgery. UPDATE: Lucy had her surgery and she is recovering well. You can see in the video the comparison of x-rays where Doctor Du mended her pelvis with a steel plate and screws. Lucy's pain is now 'good pain', pain that will be relatively short-lived. Soon, she will be able to move, walk, even go to the toilet without experiencing excruciating pain. It's thanks to the farmer who called us to rescue Lucy but it's thanks to YOU that Doctor Du relied on you to reach the fundraiser goal. Thank you... From Lucy 💖🐾 UPDATE: We said that soon, Lucy would be able to walk without the excruciating pain of a broken pelvis. Well look at her go!! She's doing really great and is patient when Dr Du and his team clean her wound. Her pain from surgery is being managed but she's a good patient by all accounts. Lucy loves our founder Du Yufeng ❤ Whenever she hears Du's voice she looks for her and wants to be next to her. She knows who rescued her 🥰 Du bought her an inflatable Elizabethan collar to prevent her from licking her wound. Little things like this are bought by YOU. UPDATE: Lucy, the Alaskan Malamute who was found abandoned in a field with a broken pelvis has done so well and as a result she has discharged from hospital 🥳 She met a feline friend while waiting for her medication 💞 The little Poodle is ours. Our founder Du Yufeng always tries to take another dog to the vet when another has an appointment so that they don't feel as nervous. Du wanted to take Lucy home to monitor her but the air conditioning in her apartment is broken so Du's brother offered to have Lucy at his apartment until she could get a new unit fitted. UPDATE: Lucy has now fully recovered, She was beautiful before but look at her now 😍 She loves corn, walkies and LIFE! And it's all down to you donating towards her surgery. When she is ready to move to the United States to her new home, we'll update you again. Thank you! UPDATE:
Lucy will soon be flying to the United States! Our partner there has found her a home where she will have green fields to run in and doggy friends to play with. Lucy has been through so much and we have been thrilled to see her personality come out, the more she recovered from her surgery. She's a cheeky girl and she sometimes doesn't realise how big she is when she tries to climb on the sofa to sit on Du's lap! But we are so happy she has found a forever home. We'll update again when it's time for her to leave us.
