On 17 January 2016 at 5am, our founder Du Yufeng and our young volunteer Yang Zhe Dong, departed from Guangyuan to Yibin, Sichuan.
They were heading to Dong Shan Buddhist Monastery for Bhodi Day ~ to commemorate Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment.
The monastery is located in a stunning location, at the conjecture of the Min and Jinsha Rivers, where they become the Yangtze River. Du and Yang enjoyed a full course vegetarian lunch before handing out 'Laba congee' (rice porridge) to the public.
Buddhist monks and nuns have founded a shelter at the monastery for injured and stray animals.
The video below shows Du and Yang’s visit to the shelter after their lunch.
