Puppy Rescued in Road

7/7/2022

We received a call from a supporter about a little dog running around the road and cars having to swerve it.
Our founder Du Yufeng arrived where the dog had last been seen with our worker Wu and Mr Wang, our retired bank manager volunteer.
They eventually found the dog so Mr Wang cornered him with Wu and caught him with the net. This was the only way to catch him safely. When removing the net he bit Wu's hand in fright. When Du saw the dog she knew he wasn't very old and looking at his teeth confirmed it. He had been living uncared for, for some time given the matting of his fur.
They took him to the vet for a check up and then he was taken back to the shelter where he was vaccinated, wormed, his matted bits were clipped off and he was defleaed.
Setting up a monthly donation helps to buy these essential things and pay for vet bills. Find out more what your donations buy and our work here

Puppy Needed Leg Amputating

7/7/2022

Our founder Du Yufeng received a call from a young girl who, while walking along the road side with her friend, had found a puppy that looked to have had it's leg crushed by a car.
As Du was not yet discharged from the hospital, she arranged for someone to take the pup to the vet.
After examining the pup, the vet told Du on the phone that she needed an emergency amputation of the back leg.
The first video is when Du met the pup after she was ready to be discharged from the vet.
The 2nd videos are of 'Little Strong' as she has been named, at Mr Wang's house. He will be fostering Little Strong until a home can be found for her.
She is so young and has such a lot of love to give. She likes to play with Mr Wang's little dog but she will eventually need a home of her own.
Your donations help us to pay for emergencies like this.
Thank you.

Golden Retriever Legs Tied Together

17/6/2022

Our founder Du Yufeng received a message from someone who had seen a Golden Retriever with it's back legs tied together, by the side of the road.
Du & one of our workers met some supporters at the scene. The goldie was depressed and stood to let our worker untie his back legs. He then realised that maybe he was going to be hurt again so they had to use a pole to restrain him and put a lampshade collar on him to try and stop him biting anyone in fear.
That worked.... until they reached the shelter. He was put in a darker kennel to let him adjust to his surroundings and when Du removed the collar, he bit her hand.
She ended up in hospital because of the injury and risk of infection.
As we all know, Yulin Dog Meat & Lychee Festival in Guangxi starts in a few days and we suspect that this goldie could have been on the way to be sold or had been bought by a trafficker and for whatever reason he ended up where he was found.
Please donate towards caring for dogs rescued from the Dog Meat Trade. Thank you
UPDATE:
The Golden Retriever we rescued with his back legs tied together, a possible victim of the Dog Meat Trade, has sadly died.
He was given a Buddhist funeral by Du, helped by our worker because Du is still in pain with her hand.
This poor boy knew only pain and suffering towards the end of his life. He could have had the opportunity to find a loving, forever home eventually but he had just given up.
Thank you for sharing his story and donating towards his care. Please don't let his death be forgotten. Thousands like him are stolen, tortured and killed every year so that someone can eat them.
We will never stop fighting for them.

Dog In Steel Jaw Leg Trap

13/6/2022

Our founder Du Yufeng received a video and call from a supporter about a dog on the junction heading towards Baolun with something attached to its back leg.
As Du was on the other side of the city, Mr Wang, our retired bank manager friend who helps at our shelter, offered to go with one of our workers and a volunteer.
When they arrived at the scene they saw that the thing attached to the dog's leg was a steel jaw leg-hold trap!
They eventually caught the dog and removed the trap. Luckily there were no breaks or deep breaks to the skin so they sprayed antiseptic and local anaesthetic to the affected paw and took the dog back to our shelter.

Golden Retriever with Ascites

5/1/2022

This Golden Retriever was found wandering in Bao Lun Town.
Our founder Du Yufeng arrived at the scene and immediately took the dog to Doctor Li's pet hospital.
The Golden Retriever has Ascites. He is also extremely thin.
Doctor Li prepped him to have some of the fluid drained.
Although his tail is wagging and he appears to be happy, he's also in pain and discomfort. The fluid is likely to come back so will need draining again. If you can help with a small donation towards the vet bill we would be really grateful. Thank you.

Puppy With Leg Ripped Open

1/12/2021

Our founder, Du Yufeng, received a call about a dog who had a wound on it's head and leg.
When Du saw this poor little puppy it was worse than she thought. Apart from the open wound on her head and an injury on her shoulder, her front leg was ripped open exposing muscle and broken bone.
She was led, curled up in a ball, trying to hide while in excruciating pain.
Doctor Li has treated her and now she has been hospitalised to monitor her leg and pain. Now that her pain is controlled she is eating well but this rescue has affected us a lot.
A baby; with such a lot of pain in such a short life and although we don't like to ask you so close to the holidays, if you can donate even a small amount towards her vet bills we would really appreciate it. We don't know how long she will be in hospital for.
No amount is too small.
Thank you

UPDATE:
Xiao Hei, the little pup who we rescued with the ripped open front leg and head and shoulder wounds has been having her wounds regularly cleaned by the vet nurses to help them heal.
Our founder Du Yufeng has been visiting her regularly to help her feel loved and to reassure her.
There wasn't enough skin to stitch the leg wound so, as it needs to be kept very clean, hospitalisation is the best thing for her at the moment.
We are really sorry to ask again but as you know vet bills don't come cheap and especially because she can't come home yet: hospital stays are expensive
Please, if you can donate; NO amount is too small. Every donation helps Xiao Hei to recover.
Thank you.

Update:
Xiao Hei, the little dog with the ripped front leg is healing so well. Du thinks her face makes her look like a little fox
She now has flashes of white in her black fur where the wounds on her shoulder and head were.
She's such a little cutie and still only a baby.
Thank you for your donations to pay for her treatment and hospital stay. She's still in hospital until her leg wound is properly recovered so if you are able to spare a small donation to pay for her stay we would really appreciate it
Thank you.

Belgian Malinois Tied to Tree With Puppies

22/11/2021

Our founder Du Yufeng received a phone call from the Community Director of Dashi Town, Mr Fan, to tell her this Belgian Shepherd was dumped, tied to a tree with her litter of puppies!
A kind person had put some cardboard down and covered them to protect them from the cold but the mother couldn't even stand or turn around!
Du called Mr Wang the retired bank manager who often helps us with rescues. They both drove to the scene to meet the Community Director.
A crowd of people had gathered so Du explained that leaving the puppies in this heartless manner could have killed them and that no one would do this to a human mother who had given birth to babies.
Du asks why do some people not know how to appreciate the loyal dedication of animals to humans like disaster search and rescue?
In her words "Life is equal, animals are also flesh and blood. They also need love. They get afraid, cold, hungry, feel pain and separation. Please put yourself in their situation. Their pain is my pain. When we have mutual respect our lives will be full of sunshine".
If you can, please donate towards these new rescues. Thank you.

Little Brave Full Of Broken Bones

25/10/2021

Time was of the essence for this dog to have surgery before major complications, or worse, happened. She needed expert surgery to mend her broken bones and for that we needed to take her to Chengdu.
Our supporters raised over two thirds of the funds for Xiao Yong as she was named (Little Brave)'s surgery and Doctor Zhong in Chengdu agreed to admit her with the condition that we could raise the rest of the money.
BUT.... she needed an urgent blood transfusion when we got there before she was strong enough for surgery and we weren't quoted for that in the estimate. Because it was such a big surgery and she was so small, she also needed to stay in the hospital for longer.
Little Brave had her surgery and was placed in intensive care. It took a lot out of her little body but she is a fighter. She needed another blood transfusion while she was prepared for surgery. The vet mended her broken bones. It was major surgery for this little girl. Both sides of her pelvis were broken, her coccyx bone and the distal femur in both back legs. She would have been left paralysed without the help of our wonderful supporters so thank you.
Little Brave recovered well from her major surgery. She was on cage rest and won the hearts of the staff with her cuteness. Her surgery was a success and the vets are pleased with her progress. This has only been possible because of our supporters help. She could be in hospital for a while yet and every day that passes, the bill rises.
Little Brave is recovering very well but the vets say she's going to be in hospital for a while yet. She's on strong pain medication to keep her comfortable but is still on cage rest.  We couldn't take Little Brave home because we just aren't equipped to look after her yet and we didn't want to throw all the vet's hard work away and risk injury to her. As much as we'd have loved to collect her and take her back to Guangyuan with us, we needed her to stay where she was to get better. One generous donor pledged to donate every fortnight towards Little Brave's care.
You can see how major this surgery was when you see the x rays of the  fixations on her bones. As well as pain medication the vets have been giving her heat therapy to her surgery sites to manage her pain and stimulate blood circulation and promote healing. These things plus the extra days in hospital were adding the total vet bill to an amount we just couldn't keep up with. Although her surgery and first few days in hospital were now paid for, thanks to our supporters generosity, we were once again having to ask for your kind heartedness to help Little Brave on this last journey of her surgery.
Little Brave was nearly ready to be discharged from the pet hospital! She started standing and was being given physiotherapy.
After learning to stand and doing really well, Little Brave had a tough few days. She started with an upset tummy and diarrhea and didn't want to do any of her physiotherapy so she was given fluids and bland food like chicken, rice and egg. She's feeling better now. The greatest concern is that her right back leg isn't working properly. She's not putting weight on it like she should and the muscle in the leg isn't as strong as her left hind leg (which is healing great). This means that she STILL has to stay in hospital. We really don't like to keep asking if you can donate a little more but with new, recent rescues needing urgent medical care at home in Guangyuan, we can't afford to pay for their treatment as well as Little Brave's. You've given Little Brave the surgery she desperately needed and we would be grateful if you could help her a little longer 🙏 NO donation is too small. Thank you so much 💖🐾
Please DONATE here. Thank you.
UPDATE:
Little Brave has been discharged from the pet hospital 😁 A lovely couple who support Bo Ai and who know our founder Du Yufeng have offered to foster Little Brave in Chengdu. She is still not putting full weight on her back leg but she will have walks to help. The vet will take the pin out of the leg in a month's time. Thanks to everyone who donated to Little Brave's fundraiser. You are amazing 💖🐾
UPDATE
Little Brave had her pins removed from bones & is recovering now. Hope this will be the last surgery for this girl & she finds her
forever home soon.  She's been so so brave!
She even had a hair cut. She is in foster care in Chengdu while she fully recovers.

Dog With Upside Down Paws Rescued

17/5/2021

Our founder Du Yufeng was going to a restaurant to collect leftover food for the dogs at the shelter. The restaurant owner told Du about a disabled dog that had been hanging around the restaurant. They had been feeding him but other people in the area didn't want the dog around so were shooing him away.
Du had a look at him and found he had a deformity; an upside down front paw. Along with skin disease, this dog was leading a hard life but he was so friendly when Du knelt down to make friends with him. All he wants is someone to love him.
He's now at our shelter.

Yorkshire Terrier Dumped At Our Shelter

9/5/2021

Over the last few weeks we've found dozens of puppies dumped in the hillside near the shelter. There have also been adult dogs dumped outside the shelter gates.
One of them was this sweet Yorkshire Terrier.
A man and a woman pulled up to the gates then quickly drove off. When the workers opened the gates they found this little boy.
Our founder Du Yufeng put a jumper on him and drove him to her house where he was given some food and a warm place to sleep.
A family pet, an expensive pet is now with us wondering where his family are and why they've left him behind

Disabled 'TRex' Dog Rescued

7/4/2021

Our founder Du Yufeng received a call from a young man who was concerned that a dog had been hit by a car and broken both it's front legs so one of our volunteers drove with Du to investigate.
When they got to where the dog was, Du realised that the dog was disabled with both front legs deformed. The dog, a lovely little girl, was overjoyed to see her rescuers.
Du had brought a tin of dog food in case she needed to bribe the dog to be caught but the dog didn't need bribing, she was so friendly.
This little dog will stay with us now, probably for the rest of her life because no one wants a disabled dog but she's off the streets now

Chengguan Take Our Dogs!!

1/2/2021

At 7am on Friday 29th January 2021, the Chengguan (Urban Management) arrived by the carload and broke in to the apartment block shelter, moving our founder Du Yufeng away from getting to the dogs. Before they arrived, our volunteers had been loading dogs that had recovered from illness and sickness in to their cars to take them to the main shelter in the mountains. The Chengguan intercepted workers on their way back to the apartment block shelter, telling them they would help to move the rest of the dogs to the main shelter but they lied. Instead, they forced their way in to Du's apartment and broke down doors to the different levels to get to the dogs. Neighbors had complained about the dogs being there.
The captain of the Chengguan, Zhang Qian refused to listen to Du's pleas that the dogs were being moved and he, along with other officers, pushed her out of the door. Du asked "This is my home, why do you want me to go out?" The captain punched and pushed Du out. He unplugged the electricity to the CCTV so that they couldn't be monitored but it was too late, the CCTV caught what he and his men were doing.
The Chengguan broke all the doors open. Du took videos with her mobile phone along with our volunteers. They dragged Du from the third floor to the first floor. All of her bag contents; her ID card and her gold necklace were taken and her mobile phone screen was broken. The Chengguan forced Du to the floor before forcing her to open every door in the block including her bedroom. Then they began removing the dogs, forcing our worker Wu to help with the removal. He took some of the sick dogs out to the waiting trucks, trying to reassure them. These dogs included a dog rescued from the meat trade last year and our disabled dogs. The Chengguan brought our dogs out in cages and even nets!!
They lied to the community police and they lied to our community leaders as well as the volunteers who came to help. They are nothing but thugs.

Du was beaten by these thugs because she dared to try and protect her dogs. The dogs are now languishing at a hell hole of a pound and we are trying to get them back. Du went to the pound to take a video of the conditions.
Volunteers sent Du to the hospital after she had been to the pound where a CT scan picked up a fracture in her wrist. She has bruises everywhere.

We are appealing to you to help us get our dogs back and to also help to pay Du's unexpected hospital bill when that arrives. These Chengguan are the ones you will have seen who beating stray dogs to death in cities across China, who wrestle pet dogs from owners arms and kill their beloved pets in front of them. They do not care about peoples' feelings and we want to expose the Guangyuan Chengguan to the world.
Please donate and share the fundraiser below widely. Help us get our dogs back and expose these heartless thugs

Thank you for your support.
UPDATE:

Following the taking of our dogs by Guangyuan's Chengguan, our founder Du Yufeng has been admitted to hospital.  She is being told to rest and is receiving fluids but she and volunteers and Guangyuan's animal lovers are calling on the suspension of Chengguan branch captain Zhang Qian along with an apology and compensation to pay medical and kennel fees but we know that won't happen any time soon, if at all so we still desperately need your help.
We later found out theat they had also turned off the electricity, water and gas at the main shelter putting not only the animals lives at risk but making the lives of the workers who live at that shelter that much harder.
The volunteers and animal lovers have been negotiating to free the dogs at the city pound and hopefully by tomorrow we may know more.
Please keep sharing and donating the fundraiser. We need you now more than we have ever done.
Thank you so much for all you have done so far.
UPDATE:

WE GOT THE DOGS!!
Thank you so much for your help but it isn't plain sailing! Read on....
Our founder Du Yufeng has been released from hospital and, after appeals were made to the local government, explaining that the world was watching and disgusted at the way the Chengguan have gone about their business, she along with Guangyuan animal lovers and volunteer are able to get all of our 77 dogs out of the city pound!
One by one they've been taken into waiting cars and vans.
Volunteers  have offered to take 1 or 2 of the disabled dogs in to their own homes to foster while Du receives confirmation from the local government that they can go back home.
The able bodied dogs who were being moved to the main shelter have been taken there. Resident dogs were waiting to welcome their new neighbors.
BUT!....some of the dogs including the 25 disabled dogs have suffered because of this despicable situation. They, along with some able bodied dogs who sustained injuries need to be taken to the vet's and, vets bills cost a lot of money. A slaughter survivor rescued last year with no front paws has suffered mentally and had to be caught by Wu with the extending pole.
Along with the vet bills we will also need to provide some food and diapers for the disabled dogs going to foster homes for the time being. We know you have already dug deep in your pockets to help us and we really appreciate your help but this is not over. Our poor dogs have been scared and wondering why they have been taken away from us. Their rescue was supposed to be once. They were never supposed to be rescued from uncertainty a second time!

Thank you so much for your continued support. Now it's time to help the dogs recover. Again!
We've been back and forth all day taking injured and sick dogs to the vet and then on to the main shelter or to foster care. Another slaughter survivor saved last year has had a wound on his disfigured leg open up again after being forced to lie down and sleep on the hard concrete floor of the pound.
Other, able bodied dogs have grazes and cuts needing stitches because of the rough handling of the Chengguan, while the very sick dogs who need medical treatment every day and have been denied this basic right have been hispitalized at Doctor Li's pet hospital.
So we still need you to help please!
We need to reimburse the foster carers for the 25 disabled dogs' food and nappies, we need to pay Du's hospital bill (1500 Yuan) and we desperately need you to help to pay towards Dr Li's bill (we don't know how much this will be yet).
We don't know how many more days the disabled dogs will be in foster homes or how long the sick will need to be in the pet hospital but these expenses are not accounted for. These are emergency expenses that we have now to find.
Thank you for what you have donated so far, you really are amazing. Thank you to every one of you who couldn't donate but have shared our posts around the world.
This is a living nightmare for us all but knowing that supporters like you are out there makes Du fight on. As she always has done.
Thank you for helping our 77 dogs, victim to the Chengguan bullying regime.

Dog With Wire Cutting In To Body

13/1/2021

Our founder Du Yufeng received a call about a dog in a bad way in Jiachuan, Wangcang County. Our friend Mr Wang offered to drive Du the more than 60 kilometres, early in the morning, to rescue it.
When they arrived at the scene they found some local people waiting with the dog. The dog had tight wire tied around his middle. Our worker Wu used the pole to catch the dog and place him into the cage that Du had taken with her but as the dog’s wound was very deep and the dog was in a lot of pain and very scared, the local people offered to help.
The dog was driven back to Doctor Li’s Pet Hospital where he was sedated so that the wound could be cleaned and the wire removed. The wire had cut deep into the dog’s body and infection meant that the wound smelled bad.
The dog was admitted to hospital for a few days and the infection monitored and treated with antibiotics while the pain was also controlled.

This poor dog had been wandering and suffering like this for a long time. We don’t know what happened but now hes safe with us.

Paralysed Kitten Rescued

17/12/2020

This little kitten was found in a trash can in Shaxiba about half an hour away from us, by a girl who heard the faint meows. She called our founder Du Yufeng and met her with the kitten at Doctor Li's pet hospital where the kitten was given an x ray which showed her spine was broken. She couldn't feel anything in her back legs.
We think she was hit by a car and someone picked her up and put her in the trash!! Luckily she was found by the compassionate girl.
She will likely never be adopted because of her disability so she'll live with Du and the other disabled animals at our apartment block shelter.

Paralysed Puppy

12/10/2020

Our founder, Du Yufeng arrived back at her home in the apartment block shelter after shopping for food for the disabled and sick dogs. this little puppy was waiting outside her front door.
There was a note with the puppy explaining that the the puppy was a community dog but it's leg had been broken and they could not keep it...
Du took the puppy to Doctor Li's pet hospital where x rays showed the puppy had at some point had her hips and tail broken, leaving her paralysed, and her stomach was bloated with impacted feces as a result.
Cases like these break everyone's hearts because this little girl has had so much pain in her short life.
To help us pay for the vet's bill we need your help
. Please don't feel that you have to donate a lot. Even $1, £1 or €1 will help her and we will be grateful for anything.
Please share for more impact.
Thank you for your support  🙏 🐾

Chocolate Labrador Battered or Tumour?

7/9/2020

This poor Chocolate Labrador was found tied up near the garbage dump. Our workers were going to the laundry shop when they found him after hearing his barks. At first we thought someone had beaten him to cause a swelling on his muzzle and injury to his left eye but we think now that he could have a tumour. A couple of years ago we had a German Shepherd with a nasal tumour and it looks very much like this.
Our founder Du Yufeng and one of our workers took the Lab to Doctor Li's pet hospital where tests will confirm this and if any treatment can be given.
UPDATE:-

It is not good news. X rays showed that he has Nasal Cancer.
The tumour is too big to treat so all that we can do for now while he still has some will to live is to make him comfortable. He will receive regular medication to help with pain.
It's such a shame that his former owner didn't do something when the tumour was smaller. It might have been a different outcome for him. For now we will give him all the love and care that we can.
If you would like to help with his vet bill and his ongoing medication we would be very grateful for your support.

Little Dog With Foot Rot

22/8/2020

A man walking his dog saw this little guy and called our founder Du Yufeng who went to collect the dog.
When Du arrived at the scene she found an underweight little dog with wet, straggly fur but what was more upsetting was that the dog's paw pads looked to have been rotted away on 3 of his legs and his penis was yellow!!
Du immediately took the little dog, to Doctor Li's pet hospital.
Trying to take blood from him was hard. His skin is like leather with no visible veins but Doctor Li's expertise showed.
Du brought one of the dogs from the shelter, a black Labrador called La La to donate blood.
Doctor Li needs to do more tests to find out what is wrong with the little dog and he has to have more blood transfusions.
Unfortunately we need to ask for your help to donate towards the veterinary bill. This dog is very sick and we need to find out what is wrong with him. Anything you can afford will help. $1, £1, €1. Anything will help.
Thank you very much

Snake Bite!

15/8/2020

One of our workers, Wu saw a snake bite one of our Old English Sheepdogs, Hen Da. The snake wasn't venomous so our founder Du Yufeng was taking Hen Da to her house to clean the wound and give her treatment but on the way Hen Da suddenly collapsed so they took a detour to Doctor Li's pet hospital.
By the time they arrived at the hospital, Hen Da had a big painful lump on her throat. Doctor Li treated her for shock by giving her fluids then he drained the lump and gave Hen Da antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine.
Du had been taking a new rescue, a little Husky mix puppy who had been found near the flooded river, to the hospital before Wu called her. He was very sick and was also hooked up to fluids. Tests showed he has Canine Distemper. Once the fluids were given he perked up and showed us what a fighter he is.
Du and Wu stayed at the hospital for several hours so that Doctor Li and the nurses could monitor both dogs. There were no kennels free or room at the hospital for the dogs to stay overnight so Du took them home with her and continued the fluid therapy, monitoring them both around the clock.
Every day for a few hours the dogs have been taken back to the pet hospital (the video of them in the car).
A few days later Hen Da was given a good check over then discharged but the around the clock care continues for the Husky mix puppy.
We have had such bad weather lately in Guangyuan. There have been storms and galeforce winds for weeks with flooding causing people to be evacuated from their homes.
You can read more about it here.
In our city there is flooding at our shelter, some of the dogs have been moved into already crowded kennels because of this. There have been landslides blocking roads including the one leading to the shelter.
Du will continue to nurse the puppy at home and brave the storms to get to the dogs at the shelter when she can.
We really appreciate your donations and monthly sponsorships. You pay for the treatment for fur babies like these.
Thank you!

Dog With No Tongue

24/5/2020

Our founder Du Yufeng received a call asking her to rescue a dog who had been wandering in Nanhe District. When Du took the dog to Doctor Li's pet hospital for her check up appointment, they noticed something diferent...
She didn't have a tongue!
Doctor Li said it is possible that someone did this to her on purpose and then dumped her. She was underweight and very dirty when Du picked her up from the street but she wasn't scared and she was patient with the vet's examinations leading us to believe that she has been around people before.
Whatever has happened to this little girl (now named Jue Xin meaning determined), she is now safe with us. Already she is feeding well. Du makes balls of soft food for her and puts it in her mouth. In the video at the end, you can see a slow motion of her eating. She is managing very well and is getting along with the other dogs too.
Doctor Li has given Du some oral antibacterial spray to stop any nasty bugs growing in the dogs mouth, because she has no tongue to move food out of unwanted places.
We will never know what has happened to her but when the world is safe again we hope that someone abroad who has some experience with special needs dogs can give her a loving home. Surviving life on the street is tough for any dog but for a dog with no tongue who cannot scavenge most food that able bodied dogs do is a lot worse.
We hope Jue Xin finds her happy ever after soon ❤

 She deserves to

UPDATE:

Jue Xin is doing really well. She has even learnt herself to eat. To make sure she has plenty of water each day we put it in her food and put her bowl in a crate so that the other dogs don't eat it. She takes her time eating due to her disability but apart from that she is just a little sweetheart who wants to be loved like any other dog.
She has been sterilised by Doctor Zhong who has travelled from Chengdu for a few days with his team. They are working in to the night to sterilise as many dogs as they can.
We really hope she finds that special forever home soon. She deserves to know what a home really is

Malamute With Severe Mange

2/5/2020

Our founder Du Yufeng was alerted to the plight of a poor Alaskan Malamute who was 160 kilometres away from Guangyuan. Our wonderful volunteer, bank manager Mr Wang offered to drive Du to rescue the Malamute who was in Huangyang Town in Wangcang County.
When they arrived they found the dog in a worse state than they thought. The pain and suffering he has endured for so long was evident in his angry red skin and he was painfully thin. To see such a beautiful dog like this is heartbreaking.
Back in Guangyuan the first stop was at Doctor Li's pet hospital where the dog was given a full check up.
Once it was determined that Du could treat him at home, she and Mr Wang made their way back to Du's house in the apartment block shelter where sick and disabled dogs are kept until they are recovered enough to move to the main shelter.
Du vaccinated the dog and then started to cut the remaining fur away from the worst affected parts then he was washed.  He was absolutely filthy. His once beautiful coat was coming out in clumps and where it wasn't, it already had fallen out due to the severe mange.
After his medicated bath, he was given antibiotics and a good meal then he settled down to sleep. A safe sleep. No longer homeless and hungry, no longer in lots of pain from the itchy skin and open sores.

Xìngyùn (Lucky) will soon begin to believe that he no longer has to suffer anymore.
Your donations really do help the needy souls in and out of our city. They help to buy the medication and food that dogs like this one desperately need to get better. Thank you. For saving him.

For a small amount each month you can become one of our
 emergency rescue response sponsors.
You will be a saviour to animals in China every month.

Disabled Poodle Abandoned

23/2/2020

This young Poodle was abandoned in the rubble of a derelict house. Our founder Du Yufeng received a call from concerned villagers asking her to take the Poodle and give her a home. They told her the pup had been left at the site and had been in a car accident, paralysing her back legs. They had put makeshift bandages on her paws to protect them after they saw that she had worn away her skin from moving around on the hard surfaces.
Du and our volunteer Yang took the Poodle back to Du's house where she was given something to eat and then allowed to have a sleep. She needed the rest! it was as if she knew she was now safe and that she could sleep without one eye open in case bad people came to get her.
After her rest, Du and Yang started to shave off her very smelly,  matted fur which was full of urine. She had been neglected for a long time. Du washed and dressed her back paws and bandaged them. Her tail stump had also been caught on the hard ground and skin had worn away and even her private parts were not immune to painful wounds from the floor. Du applied antiseptic powder and cream to help her heal.

Across China there are people being told that dogs and cats are spreading the Coronavirus and being told they cannot have pets. This is leading to dogs and cats being abandoned on the streets where if the are seen by some government officials, they are beaten to death.
Now this little girl is safe with us and will receive the treatment and care she needs.
Emergency rescues like this one require medicines and vet bills. If you can help with this little girl's care please consider making a donation.
Thank you for your support.
UPDATE:
Do you remember the little disabled Poodle we rescued in February?
When we took her to Doctor Li's pet hospital, x rays showed both the bones in her back lower legs had been crushed beyond repair from the car accident. Doctor Li had no option but to amputate both of the legs.
Quite a few people told our founder, Du Yufeng to put the Poodle to sleep but Du wanted to give her a chance.
Now, she is getting along really well. She's started to walk again on her two remaining legs so once she is healed and has built up some strength, we will try her in one of the wheelchairs kindly donated by ProWal in Germany.
Sometime in the future we want her to experience a forever home where she will receive the love and devotion that she deserves.
She has been through such a lot that Du has given her a fitting name:- 'Jian Qiang' which means 'Strong' 💖

Your donations gave the medical requirements that Jian Qiang desperately needed so thank you for still caring.

Abandoned Golden Retriever Puppy

15/2/2020

Our bank manager friend, Mr Wang was walking his dog along the Nanhe River when he came across this Golden Retriever puppy. No one was around so this looks like an abandonment.
Mr Wang took the puppy to Doctor Li's pet hospital where tests revealed Canine Distemper.

The puppy is now at Du's home where she is in a quarantine area. She will be given supportive care to help her body fight the virus and treated with fluids to prevent dehydration with medication to help control any seizures.
We hope she is strong enough to fight and overcome the worst.

Reports of people abandoning and leaving their pets behind as the Coronavirus outbreak continues means that donations are needed now more than ever.

Puppy With Fractured Pelvis & Parvo

4/12/2019

Our friend, bank manager Mr Wang Xiaoming rescued this puppy when he saw it on the side of Nanhe Highway. He brought him to our founder, Du Yufeng's house.
Du took the pup to the pet hospital where he was found to have a fractured pelvis and he also tested positive for Canine Parvovirus!
This poor little pup has had such a hard, painful start to life.
A puppy shouldn't have to have cage rest to heal injuries and shouldn't have to feel ill from having Canine Parvovirus but this puppy is in China. Our government plays no part in compulsive sterilisation or vaccination of stray animals nor does it introduce laws for the protection of small animals.
Life for dogs (and cats) in China is hard but with your help we will do all we can to help them.
On this giving Tuesday please consider donating the cost of a cup of coffee to help emergency rescues like this little pup. Thank you for your support 🐾

Puppy With Intestines Hanging Out

16/11/2019

This little puppy was found when our founder Du Yufeng was driving past a bus stop. Du noticed something hanging from underneath the pup and when she caught her she realised her intestines were protruding from her abdomen.
Du took the pup to Doctor Li's pet hospital for surgery.
The pup is now recovering from her ordeal. She was very scared at first but is settling in ok.
Emergency surgeries like this one put a strain on our finances so your help is greatly appreciated.
Setting up a small monthly payment helps us to help little ones like her.
Thank you for your support🐾

Dog With Leg Injury

24/10/2019

This dog made it's way, with an infected leg, to a hotel in a shopping mall. The bar tender contacted our founder, Du Yufeng who took the dog to Doctor Li's pet hospital. Doctor Li flushed the wound which was full of pus and gave the dog an antibiotic shot. Doctor Li also found an old, healed front leg break.
This fur baby has obviously had a hard life on the streets.
Du continued to clean his wound and give the course of antibiotics. He is now safe from further danger.
Can you sponsor our work and help emergency rescues like him by choosing a small monthly donation? The cost of one coffee a month. That's all it takes.
Thank you for your support.
