Hundreds of Tibetan Mastiffs and other dogs were found by volunteers in Xichang on their way to Guangxi's 'Yulin Dog Meat Festival' Our founder, Du Yufeng immediately appealed for volunteers to join her in driving the nearly 9 hours from Guangyuan to Xicheng to appeal to the authorities to release the dogs but when Du and others arrived at the scene, the local government and the dog traffickers were not willing to hand over the dogs. They said that the dogs had infectious diseases and were to be buried alive! Every day the dog traffickers threatened and shouted abused at Du and the volunteers. One dog trafficker came back drunk with reinforcements. Police were called but did not intervene. During the early hours, the dog traffickers set upon Du and other volunteers. Du was hurt and was taken by ambulance to the local hospital. Other volunteers joined her on the ward. A couple of days earlier, Du had written an open letter to the government to appeal to save the dogs and allow quarantine but it was all in vain, the dogs had been brutally killed. Life is hard for Chinese animal rescuers. It's even harder for the animals 💔 Share this post to your social media
