In this education event we focused on teaching people about animal welfare and cruelty to animals. We took along some of the dogs from the shelter to show people that dogs are friendly and love to be talked to and stroked.
They are always a big crowd pleaser and they enjoy the day as much as we do because they get to meet new people in different surroundings.
We set up information points around the area we were holding the event so that we were easily on hand if anyone asked questions- and plenty did! We gave out leaflets to people to take home and read and asked them to pass what they had learned on to others. Local media also turned up and interviewed our founder, Du Yufeng.
It was a very well received event and we talked to a lot of people about the different diseases that can be prevented through vaccinating their dogs and explained that the cruel killing of dogs in various parts of the country could easily be prevented by local governments working with activists to vaccinate the stray dogs.
People are scared of rabies which is understandable so we explained that vaccinating their dogs will prevent both the dog and people from contracting it.

We believe the only way to stop the dog and cat meat trade is through education.
