Yulin 2024

Although we haven't made the journey to Guangxi to the actual Yulin festival this year, we are still working to stop the suppliers from sending dogs there and this was even more heartbreaking and shocking when a supporter contacted us to tell us that a man in Wangcang County, about an hour and a half from us, was buying and fattening puppies for the 'festival'. Below is the story of those puppies:

Puppies being raised for Yulin Dog Meat Festival! A concerned dog lover called to say there was someone in Wangcang who specializes in selling dog meat and he has bought dozens of puppies from Henan to raise and sell them for Yulin festival. Our volunteer went to take undercover footage to show us. It is 41 days until the dog meat festival officially starts so our founder Du Yufeng is going to see this man to find out what is happening. 

UPDATE:
​Our founder Du Yufeng and one of her friends went to the place where puppies were being raised for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. They met the owner and followed him to the compound where they found a lot of dead and dying puppies. We are negotiating with the owner but we are going to need your support to save the remaining puppies because if there are dead pups, they will likely all be sick. PLEASE donate what you can, however small, for the babies’ veterinary bill. Thank you.

UPDATE:
The man who was buying and fattening puppies up for Yulin Dog Meat festival has agreed to hand them over to us. We managed to save 29 live puppies but around half are VERY sick. We are taking them to the pet hospital. We URGENTLY need your help with vet bills now. Please donate, however small. Thank you! ​

​The puppies being raised for Yulin Dog Meat Festival were taken to the pet hospital and it’s not good news. 15 have tested positive for Canine Distemper, Parvovirus and Coronavirus and one little black and tan pup is very sick. They have been hospitalized. We are going to have a massive vet bill so we really need your help more than ever before. 

UPDATE:
​Puppies rescued from Yulin fate. The 15 puppies are still in the pet hospital and are being nursed 24/7 by the doctors and nurses there. We are urgently appealing for donations towards the vet bill, however much you can afford. NO amount is too small. Thank you 🙏

​This little boy was the sickest of the 15 puppies we took to the pet hospital after rescuing them from a man who was fattening them up for Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Unfortunately his little body couldn't recover from the sickness and he passed away.

UPDATE:
​Another puppy raised for Yulin Dog Meat festival has passed away. Du prepared her tiny body for a Buddhist funeral. This heartache is taking its toll on all of us. This baby had no chance of a loving family life from the minute she was born.

The 13 sickest puppies, rescued from a dealer who was raising them for Yulin Dog Meat Festival are still in the pet hospital, 4 weeks after rescue. We desperately need your help towards the escalating vet bill. Hospital stays can be expensive and we are grateful for any amount you can spare. Thank you 🙏

UPDATE:
All the puppies are now out of hospital and doing well thanks to your donations. They could have ended up on someone's plate after being painfully slaughtered but YOU saved them and made these little ones better.
We couldn't continue rescuing animals without your help so a big thank you!

​Among the puppies rescued were a Husky and a little crossbreed who shared a cage at the vet's when they were recovering. They became firm friends and now that they are home, they are always by each other's side.
