Keari tells us that Ami has been a little picky with her food and that she whined in the night. An adopted dog has had a lot of changes happen to them. They have left the place they felt secure in and have been thrust in to not only a new home but a new country, having got there by travelling thousands of miles in a plane; another thing that they would not face if they had been adopted in their own country. We aren't worried when dogs take time to feed, they must get used to their new environment at their own pace and we know their adopters will help them with that. Ami's favourite place in her new house is right by the window. Her bed is under the window and she loves to look out at the birds and squirrels. Keari tells us that she likes to chase the squirrels and cannot get enough of the outdoors. When she returns home from walkies, she can sleep and dream about all the new things she's done. This is one of the things that we all like to hear about because at the shelter there are no regular walkies; there are just too many dogs so the only time the dogs get to go for a walk is usually when volunteers come to the shelter.
When Ami reached her home town, she was taken for a walk with Keari. After exploring the area it was time to head back to Ami's new house! A quiet night was planned so that everyone could get to know each other. It looks like Ami is already settling in! We are so happy she is feeling this relaxed after worrying about her not knowing what was happening as she was put in the crate at Beijing. She looked so worried then but look at her now! ♥
On the drive to Ami's forever home, Keari stopped off for refreshments. She bought a burger. Look who has settled in so quickly that she is curious about what is being eaten? This photo made us laugh so much. Ami's personality is already shining through. Keari gave her a taste of her burger; Ami's first. She is such a cheeky girl.
Ami has met her new mommy at long last. Keari gave her a drink and a light meal before they made the journey to their home; Ami's forever home ♥ Thank you Keari for adopting Ami and giving her the chance to live in a loving home for the rest of her life. We all look forward to seeing her enjoy her time with you. After flying nearly 5000 miles from Beijing to the Netherlands and then almost 4000 miles from the Netherlands to Chicago, Ami has arrived in America! Very soon she will meet her new mommy, Keari.
Keari has been buying toys and treats for when Ami goes home with her. Ami is going to be very excited to learn how to play with toys of her own. Among the toys that Keari has bought are doggy, peanut butter flavor, bubbles! Keari also has a new collar and tag and new lead. What a lucky girl she is!
Today, Ami will fly to Amsterdam and when she arrives there she will have an overnight stay in their pet hotel before flying to Chicago tomorrow. She is a little unsure of what is happening. It is hard to see her worried. Why can't dogs speak our language or we speak theirs? You will soon meet your new mommy Ami! Be brave ❤ Wang Yan and her colleague Cindy have been trying Ami in different sized flight crates and getting her used to being in them. Ami was a good girl and took everything in her stride. |
