Mao Niu made it safely to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in America and has met her new mommy, Becky!

Mao Niu has been in her new home for a couple of nights now and is already learning the correct place in her new yard where she should do her business. She has a new fur sister, Maddie, who will teach her all about being a home girl since Mao Niu has only ever known the shelter as her home. Now the time starts for her to experience what we wish every one of our dogs could experience; a home and a family of their very own.

Mao Niu was taken to the airport by our colleagues at the transport company who have looked after her at the pet hotel and taken her for veterinary appointments. She has been checked in and all the necessary paperwork completed. She is comfortable in her crate and now we are waiting for take off. Everyone is excited to see what she will make of her new country - America!

f: Sick In Beijing!

Mao Mao (and Mao Niu) have both had to stay extra days in Beijing and their original flights were postponed. Both have been treated for  Superficial Pyoderma so one of our pet transport colleagues has been administering medicine twice a day. Unfortunately both Mao Mao and Mao Niu were shaved so that the medicine could be administered more effectively and so that, because of the weather getting hotter in Beijing, they could fly to Arizona as soon as possible. Their unfortunate circumstances has not dampened both dogs' enthusiasm and they are still keen to play, give everyone kisses and make everyone laugh at their antics. Everyone loves Mao Mao and Mao Niu.

This morning (12th May), it was time for Mao Niu and Mao Mao to leave Du's house and Bo Ai Centre. Du took them to the bus station in her car and a volunteer accompanied them to Chengdu airport where they will stay in the pet hotel there. Tomorrow morning (13th May) they will fly to Beijing where they will stay in the pet hotel there until it is time for their connecting flights to America.

Mao Niu and Mao Mao were given medicated baths to make them more presentable for when they leave China. They both love to be pampered and it has made them feel better too.
Then it was time to spend the last night with Du. Some of the volunteers, who had looked after the two Goldens from the time of their rescue until now, also came to say an emotional goodbye to them and wished them well in 'the land of the free' where the will have access to lots of things they don't in China. They will miss them lots!

While all the formalities have been taking place, and Mao niu has been waiting to go to America, she has been enjoying her life, as always. She is a very happy girl and loves to play. Our founder, Du Yufeng, brought her to her house with Mao Mao (who has been adopted by the same charity) so that she could spend quality time with her.

Two of our Golden Retrievers were adopted by one of our partners, Goldens Without Borders, in America and they eventually flew out to Las Vegas a couple of months ago and are doing great so we were delighted to be contacted by another Golden Retriever Charity in America called Rescue a Golden Arizona. They offered to take 2 of our remaining Goldens and Mao Niu is one of them! She has an exciting life ahead of her ~ and a new job! She is being adopted by one of the charity's board members and will become a therapy dog, visiting people with disabilities in hospital! She will be able to show then that you can have a happy and fulfilled life with a disabilty. We are so excited to see how she will become, not only a disabled dog ambassador from China but hopefully, a friend to people inAmerica with disabilities to show them how well she copes with life.
Mao Niu was microchipped, weighed and measured for the final price of the flight.

Mao Niu was rescued with a front leg disability,  abandoned, tied by the neck, to the gate of our shelter as a small puppy. She has been in the shelter ever since but she hasn't let anything get in the way of her having fun. She is a joy to be around and before Kang Kang was adopted by Goldens Without Borders, she was Mao Niu's best friend.
Mao Niu is like all Golden Retrievers~ happy and full of the joys of life. She loves her bed.
