Dog Meat Trade survivor, Ma Dan has enjoyed his first Christmas with his new family in Belgium and already he has them well trained; he asks them to let him in out in the back garden for a pee by talking to them with a little howl 😁 He's also been playing with toys of his own. It has taken some of the other dogs, adopted abroad, quite a while to learn to play so Ma Dan is settling in really well. Over the festive period, he's been going for walks, exploring the surrounding area where he lives and has met cows and donkeys! These are animals he has never seen before so he was excited to make friends with these animals. Thank you Brinte and your lovely family for choosing Ma Dan to be a part of your lives. China is well and truly behind him!

Brinte and her family decided to introduce Ma Dan to their 2 Pomeranians, Youcka and Mochi, at a forest 5 minutes from where they live. This was a great idea because it is on neutral territory so there would be no immediate territory wars if they were to be introduced in the house. Brinte held Ma Dan's leash to show Youcka, her own dog, that she can share her love around. The introductions went amazingly and it was a fun place for Ma Dan to explore after the long journey he took to get there. Back at the house, Ma Dan explored his new garden and again, Youcka and Mochi were happy to welcome him in to their territory. He had something to eat and quickly made himself at home, sleeping on the sofa! We are so happy to see Ma Dan so relaxed and hope he has a good night's sleep tonight. Ma Dan, landed safely at Amsterdam airport. Thank you so much to Roos (left) for being a flight volunteer for Ma Dan! His new mommy Brinte (centre) was able to finally meet him! ❤️🐶🐾
Ma Dan will live with his new family in Belgium so one last journey to get to his new home and he can then settle and begin exploring and getting to know everyone. Dog Meat Trade Survivor, Ma Dan, left China forever around 7 and a half hours ago! He's been such a brave boy, taking everything in his stride. Roos, a friend of Ma Dan's adopted family, was a flight volunteer and we can't thank her enough for letting Ma Dan travel with her from Shanghai to Amsterdam. In a few more hours, Roos will take Ma Dan to meet his new mommy, Brinte and the rest of his new family including 2 Pomeranians called Youcka and Mochi. Exciting times lie ahead for this handsome boy. Thanks again to everyone who donated and shared the fundraiser to help fund Ma Da's flight. Yesterday, Ma Da spent his last ever morning in Guangyuan. He spent his last ever morning with the disabled and pregnant/mother dogs and watched as they went about their daily business like always. He ate his breakfasts with them like always but as the afternoon progressed it was soon time to leave the shelter, and those dogs behind.... In advance of the departure to Chengdu, Ms Du took Ma Dan into Guangyuan centre to buy him a delicious departing meal. He ate and spent time with Ms Du and one of our volunteers who would drive them to Chengdu. He didn't know that this was the last time he would ever see Ms Du but he spent quality time with her and after eating they had a walk around. Then, it was time to leave Guangyuan forever. Ms Du said that Ma Dan seemed to know he was going on an adventure and that soon he would leave China to start a new life abroad because he watched the journey from start to finish, like he was soaking up every moment of his homeland. After over 3 hours driving time, they finally reached Chengdu Toll Station. Soon after, they met Mr Wang, a representative of the pet transport company. Mr Wang brought with him a crate that Ma Dan would fly in. Ma Dan was a little nervous and although Ms Du told him to be a good boy and told him goodbye, it is understandable for Ma Dan to feel this way because he does not know that he has his freedom flight, that he has a forever home and will enjoy every minute of his new life. This is the hard part for Ms Du because each time she says goodbye to a dog, she knows she will never see them again, only in photos and videos. If only we could tell the dogs not to be scared, that their life begins now... Ma Dan stayed with Mr Wang last night ready to fly to Shanghai this morning. He will stay in Shanghai tonight before meeting his flight volunteer tomorrow morning, before boarding the flight to his waiting family ❤
Later today, Du will take Ma Dan to Chengdu to meet Mr Wang from the pet transport team. This is the first day of the rest of his life! We are all really excited that Ma Dan has found a home with an amazing family. Rescued as a puppy from the Dog Meat Trade, Ma Dan has been waiting for this moment, to finally be chosen to live in a forever home 🏠 ❤ Ma Dan gets on well with the other dogs in the shelter. Ma Dan's new mommy, Brinte, has bought him a coat and bandana to let people know that he is a Dog Meat Trade Survivor. He will also be an ambassador for this evil trade, letting people know what is happening to dogs, including puppies, in China. We are so excited to see him wear these and we know he will be proud to wear them ❤
A big THANK YOU to everyone of you who donated and/or shared Ma Dan's fundraiser!
He will fly from Chengdu to Shanghai on Wednesday 19th December. He will stay in Shanghai until his flight to Amsterdam on Friday 21st December. He will be accompanied to Amsterdam by a flight volunteer who is a friend of the family. Such good news and an amazing present for Ma Dan and his family. From a near death experience in the Dog Meat Trade as a puppy to a new home out of China. We are so happy for him, he has waited for this moment for so long and we can't wait to see his progress as he settles in to his new home. Thank you! Ma Dan's adoptive family have a friend who will be travelling from China to Amsterdam in December! This is great news but..... they will be travelling from Shanghai instead of from Beijing. This means it will cost even more money for Ma Dan's family so we really hope you can help them by donating on Ma Dan's fundraiser. It doesn't matter how much, big or small. It all goes towards Ma Dan meeting his family before Christmas this year.
If you can help Ma Dan reach his new family before this Christmas, he will be able to meet his furry family too, Youcka, Mochi and Wolfi (below). They do so many exciting things like going for long walks and swimming. Ma Dan isn't able to go for long walks at the shelter. In fact if no volunteers arrive to take him for a walk then he doesn't go and he has never been swimming. He was saved from slaughter as a puppy so his family could introduce him to this new, exciting activity! Please help Ma Dan reach his new forever home in December. Thank you! ❤
Ma Dan needs your help to get him to his new home in Belgium before Christmas this year!
He is desperate to meet his new family and doesn't want another year to pass in the shelter. Click on Ma Dan's photo below and read his plea to you:- |
