Kang Kang loves her human brother, little Zack, and being as close to him as she can - even when he is not around! Sheila found her in Zack's indoor play tent which has lots of colored plastic balls in it. Kang Kang loves to play. She is very much loved in her forever home ♥
Sheila arranged to meet Rose, Jyn's adopter. This gave Sheila and Rose chance to catch up on how their dogs were settling in to American life and importantly, for Kang Kang and Jyn to reunite. They played and caught up, remembering the good times they had at the shelter and before they were parted at the airport. It is beautiful to see them like this and we hope there will be many more play dates for them to remember their roots.
Sheila has had a cart made for Kang Kang so that she can go anywhere the family goes. Sheila's son Zack and Kang Kang have a lovely bond, Kang Kang has loved Zack from the minute she was welcomed in to his home so the only natural thing was for Zack to pull the cart and take Kang Kang for a ride. She sat lovely and still for him.
Kang Kang has quickly moved up the ranks to be the boss!! She takes the tennis balls and sleeps on them so that she knows she has them when she wakes up! She loves playing fetch with her Golden Retriever sister Belle and her Golden/Chow mix brother Buddy but Kang Kang also has another brother from Asia. He is a Korean Jindo, rescued from the Dog Meat Trade in Korea.
Kang Kang and her Golden Retriever 'sister' Belle love to play. It's great to see her so settled and getting to know the dogs in Sheila's home although at the time this video was taken, Kang Kang's 'nrother', Golden retriever/Chow Chow, Buddy, let the girls play while he dozed in peace on the sofa.
Kang Kang's test results at the vet, Heart Worm and Fecal, came back negative which is good news.
Life is good for this sweet girl.
Kang Kang has been settling in to her new home very well. So much so that she took it upon herself to steal one of the family's shoes!! Luckily no damage occurred. Cheeky girl!
Kang Kang has also learned how to get on to the sofa and make herself at home even more!
Kang Kang has been busy exploring the garden in her home and sniffing all the new, exciting smells! She isn't used to a collar being around her neck but a few scratches here and there will not get rid of it! So many new things.
Kang Kang is getting along really well her new fur sister and brother, Belle and Buddy. Below she is with Belle.
Kang Kang is settling in to Sheila's home really well. She is learning to sit in line with Sheila's other dogs to receive tasty treats like cooked chicken! She also loves Sheila's 2 and a half year old son Zack. Below, she is trying to get Zack's attention to give him kisses.
Kang Kang has met her new vet. As always she had a smile on her beautiful face! She had x rays and blood taken. The x rays showed that her knees are fused which means she has never been able to move her legs since she contracted Canine Distemper as a puppy. It also showed arthritis in her knees and ankles. The vet has prescribed Rimadyl, an anti inflammatory, tablet daily. Although she is not in any pain, it will manage the discomfort.
We were worried how Kang Kang, with her disability, would cope with the few and long flights to America but she did great and now she has met her foster mom, Sheila, for the first time! Kang Kang will visit the groomer, like Jin Niu, to pamper her and give her skin and fur moisturizing treatments. She will be assessed soon by Bill Buckley of Pet Artificial Limbs and Support and we are very excited to see what he will decide is best for Kang Kang's disability. He works with a vet who specializes in difficult surgery so we could find out whether surgery to help her walk normally will be available. We know she will settle in well with Sheila and her family and that her Golden Retriever and Chow Chow at home will welcome her. We look forward to seeing and sharing updates of her new life.
