Fang Fang was taken to her new home in Seattle where she was given a bath and a groom. She is such a gentle girl who takes things in her stride. This grooming session will help to build the bond between Fang Fang and her new family who had bought her a brand new, cosy looking bed and toys to play with. We hope that Fang fang will be very happy here, enjoying the walks that her family have in store for her. She is now adopted! We are so happy for her! Fang Fang's new cat brother was waiting and eager to meet Fang Fang when she arrived at her new home

After her flight was delayed, Fang Fang finally arrived in Seattle, America and her new mommy Alexis was there to meet her. Fang Fang had flown non stop from Beijing to Chicago where she stayed overnight to recuperate ready for her flight today from Chicago to Seattle. Her new mommy & daddy took her home to meet her cat brother. She had toys and a new, warm bed waiting for her. Fang Fang is going to be very spoiled and we are delighted about this! Today, our Chinese Rural Dog, Fang Fang, flew from Beijing Capitol International Airport to Chicago O'Hare International Airport on the first part of her journey to her new family in America. A big thank you to the staff at the pet transport company in Beijing who have done a great job of looking after Fang Fang. Fang Fang didn't want to eat anything the night before the flight and just wanted to go back in her cage. It was as if she sensed change was happening so our pet transport rep let her do what she wanted and put her dinner and a bowl of water in her cage, saying goodnight to her for the last time in Beijing. This morning, Fang Fang was happy and was eager to go in the IAPA flight crate by herself. She definitely sensed that something exciting was going to happen! Once Fang Fang reaches Chicago, she will have a rest and some food and water in the airport's pet hotel and tomorrow, she will make the connecting flight to Seattle to meet her new mommy! Fang Fang arrived in Beijing safe and sound. Our pet transport company contact, Ms Wang, went to meet her at the company's 'pet hotel', a holding room for dogs who are waiting for their flight from Beijing. Fang Fang was happy to see Ms Wang who let her out of her cage to relieve herself and have a sniff around the holding room with Bai Lang. Then it was time for Fang Fang to rest and Ms Wang to go back to work. Ms Wang and her colleagues will give Fang Fang human company and love while she waits for her flight date. The day has finally arrived when we say goodbye to Fang Fang and wish her well on her journey to a new home. Fang Fang and Bai Lang, a dog adopted by a family in Canada, were booked on to the 4pm flight from Chengdu to Beijing. It is bittersweet because on the one hand it is a sad day for us, knowing that Fang Fang will leave us after nearly 3 years at our shelter, saved from a horrific death at the hands of a butcher when we closed down a dog slaughterhouse, but on the other it is a joyful day because we know that she was the one who was chosen from lots of other dogs to start a new life overseas. Fang Fang was placed in a wire crate, securely taped in place for the short internal flight. For her journey to Amsterdam and then on to Seattle, she will be placed in an IATA ( International Air Transport Association) approved pet crate. At Chengdu airport, Fang Fang was checked in by Ms Du and helped on to the conveyor belt by our volunteer Yang Dong and another of our workers. She will arrive in Beijing in approx 2 hours 45 minutes where she will be met by the pet transport company staff. Ms Du was anxious that Fang Fang would be scared about the unfamiliar surroundings and noises so when Fang Fang was taken off the conveyor belt and driven away on a cargo handling truck, that point would be the last time that Ms Du would see Fang Fang so she could only shout Fang Fang's name and 'Guai Guai' (meaning good/ well behaved). This little girl will be missed by all the staff at Bo Ai but we are so happy to see her starting her new life in America! Ms Du and our volunteer Yang Dong took Fang Fang to Huai Ren veterinary surgery today for her rabies vaccine. There was quite a long time to wait until the vet could see Fang Fang but the clinic stays open until late. As always, Fang Fang was very relaxed about the procedure and didn't flinch when the vet gave her the vaccine. Our volunteer Yang Dong held her and reassured her throughout. Fang Fang is waiting to be flown to her new home in Seattle, United States of America. She was only a little puppy when she was rescued from the dog meat trade. Now she is approx 3 years old. Fang Fang's adoption journey began today when she, and 3 other dogs who are being adopted, made the journey with Ms Du and Yang Dong to Chengdu. Ms Du made frequent stops on the 300km journey so that Fang Fang and the others could stretch their legs, have some fresh air and a drink of water. Once in Chengdu they were checked in to a hotel for a couple of nights. |
