Fang fang sent us all Merry Christmas wishes. Thank you pretty girl!. Hope you had a nice festive time too ❤
Alexis and Ira have had a professional paint Fang Fang in watercolor. The photo they chose of Fang Fang was the one that we used for her adoption appeal. Alexis tells us "It's our favorite picture of her and I just knew she had to be a part of our family when I saw it....with her little tongue sticking out! It melted my heart" ❤
HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
Recently, Fang Fang celebrated being in her new home in America for 1 year! She has had an amazing year with her new mommy Alexis and new daddy Ira. She also has a new feline brother Blu who she loves lots. Seeing Fang Fang so happy in her forever home makes us all so happy too! Thank you Alexis and Ira! Here's to many happy years together! In Alexis' words:- "It's been one year since our sweet little Chinese Rural dog Fang Fang found her forever family in Seattle. She is such a joy in our lives, we adore her! Ira is obsessed with her and she is so spoiled! Fang Fang's loyalty, care and thoughtfulness melt our hearts. She is brilliant and her confidence grows daily. She only ever wants to please and she is so smart! She loves to join us on weekend getaways with her cat brother Blu and they're the easiest and most loving pair to have around. We are so thankful for and so proud of our Fang Fang ❤️" This beautiful photo of Fang Fang and her daddy, Ira, was sent to us by Alexis. Fang Fang has always had a lovely bond with Ira and the feeling is obviously reciprocated! ♥
After Fang Fang's spay and teeth removal surgery, Alexis and her husband took Fang Fang to the dog park. Alexis says she is like a new dog and is the fastest running dog she has ever seen in her life. She approached and played with the other dogs there and went up to their owners to say hello and she came back to Alexis right away when she called her and stayed close to her. We are so happy that Fang Fang is so happy!
Today was a big day for Fang Fang. She was spayed and had some teeth removed. She is recovering well and we are happy that she will have no more discomfort in her mouth. Dental practices in China are far behind America so it is always heartening to see new mommies and daddies doing whatever is needed to make their fur children's lives comfortable and happy. While Fang Fang was recovering from her surgery, her fur brother and best friend, Blue, kept her company ♥
Fang Fang went to camp for the weekend! Her dog sitter looked after this very pretty girl while Alexis and her husband were away for the weekend. These photos are so beautiful!
Fang Fang has a life of luxury and we are so happy. She relaxes on the sofa, like now with Alexis. Of course her feline brother Blu42 also likes to chill with them. Here, Fang Fang is under Alexis's arm and Blu on her feet!
Chinese Rural Dogs can be loners but Fang Fang will never be lonely in her forever home. She and her feline brother Blu are the best of friends and now they have each other. Lovely to see them so happy together.
Just look at how dapper and beautiful Fang Fang looks in her new winter wear! She will definitely be lovely, snug and warm in the Seattle winter.
Fang Fang has a lovely purple knitted bow headband. Or at least she did before she chewed it in protest.
But she enjoyed a pampering day at the pet spa where she had a luxury bath, nails clipped and then in place of her headband she received a smart new bandana. Fang Fang has been evaluated by the Dog Behaviourist and Alexis and her husband, Ira, are putting in to practice what she has advised so that Fang Fang feels more confident in her home. Alexis and Ira love Fang Fang very much and want her to be happy. Of course Fang Fang's new feline brother, Blu 42, is always there for reassurance too.
Fang Fang really loves her bed!! At the shelter she had no bed of her own so she is taking all opportunities to tell Alexis (and Blu!) that any bed is hers. Even if it is Blu's and much too small for her! (below left).
She has new toys and a new bandanna! She is fast becoming an American Girl! Alexis and her husband are working on building up Fang Fang's confidence with a dog behaviourist and we welcome this to help Fang Fang live a long and happy life with her new family. We will keep in touch with Alexis for updates on how Fang Fang is progressing. Fang Fang has been settling in to her new home in Seattle. She is slowly building her confidence and getting to know everyone. She has built up a beautiful bond with Alexis's husband and enjoys her morning walks with him.
She has even started to be around Blu her cat brother without being wary of him. We are very proud of Alexis and her husband for getting Fang Fang to this place in her life. Fang Fang was taken to her new home in Seattle where she was given a bath and a groom. She is such a gentle girl who takes things in her stride. This grooming session will help to build the bond between Fang Fang and her new family who had bought her a brand new, cosy looking bed and toys to play with. We hope that Fang fang will be very happy here, enjoying the walks that her family have in store for her. She is now adopted! We are so happy for her! Fang Fang's new cat brother was waiting and eager to meet Fang Fang when she arrived at her new home After her flight was delayed, Fang Fang finally arrived in Seattle, America and her new mommy Alexis was there to meet her. Fang Fang had flown non stop from Beijing to Chicago where she stayed overnight to recuperate ready for her flight today from Chicago to Seattle. Her new mommy & daddy took her home to meet her cat brother. She had toys and a new, warm bed waiting for her. Fang Fang is going to be very spoiled and we are delighted about this! Today, our Chinese Rural Dog, Fang Fang, flew from Beijing Capitol International Airport to Chicago O'Hare International Airport on the first part of her journey to her new family in America. A big thank you to the staff at the pet transport company in Beijing who have done a great job of looking after Fang Fang. Fang Fang didn't want to eat anything the night before the flight and just wanted to go back in her cage. It was as if she sensed change was happening so our pet transport rep let her do what she wanted and put her dinner and a bowl of water in her cage, saying goodnight to her for the last time in Beijing. This morning, Fang Fang was happy and was eager to go in the IAPA flight crate by herself. She definitely sensed that something exciting was going to happen! Once Fang Fang reaches Chicago, she will have a rest and some food and water in the airport's pet hotel and tomorrow, she will make the connecting flight to Seattle to meet her new mommy! Fang Fang arrived in Beijing safe and sound. Our pet transport company contact, Ms Wang, went to meet her at the company's 'pet hotel', a holding room for dogs who are waiting for their flight from Beijing. Fang Fang was happy to see Ms Wang who let her out of her cage to relieve herself and have a sniff around the holding room with Bai Lang. Then it was time for Fang Fang to rest and Ms Wang to go back to work. Ms Wang and her colleagues will give Fang Fang human company and love while she waits for her flight date. The day has finally arrived when we say goodbye to Fang Fang and wish her well on her journey to a new home. Fang Fang and Bai Lang, a dog adopted by a family in Canada, were booked on to the 4pm flight from Chengdu to Beijing. It is bittersweet because on the one hand it is a sad day for us, knowing that Fang Fang will leave us after nearly 3 years at our shelter, saved from a horrific death at the hands of a butcher when we closed down a dog slaughterhouse, but on the other it is a joyful day because we know that she was the one who was chosen from lots of other dogs to start a new life overseas. Fang Fang was placed in a wire crate, securely taped in place for the short internal flight. For her journey to Amsterdam and then on to Seattle, she will be placed in an IATA ( International Air Transport Association) approved pet crate. At Chengdu airport, Fang Fang was checked in by Ms Du and helped on to the conveyor belt by our volunteer Yang Dong and another of our workers. She will arrive in Beijing in approx 2 hours 45 minutes where she will be met by the pet transport company staff. Ms Du was anxious that Fang Fang would be scared about the unfamiliar surroundings and noises so when Fang Fang was taken off the conveyor belt and driven away on a cargo handling truck, that point would be the last time that Ms Du would see Fang Fang so she could only shout Fang Fang's name and 'Guai Guai' (meaning good/ well behaved). This little girl will be missed by all the staff at Bo Ai but we are so happy to see her starting her new life in America! Ms Du and our volunteer Yang Dong took Fang Fang to Huai Ren veterinary surgery today for her rabies vaccine. There was quite a long time to wait until the vet could see Fang Fang but the clinic stays open until late. As always, Fang Fang was very relaxed about the procedure and didn't flinch when the vet gave her the vaccine. Our volunteer Yang Dong held her and reassured her throughout. Fang Fang is waiting to be flown to her new home in Seattle, United States of America. She was only a little puppy when she was rescued from the dog meat trade. Now she is approx 3 years old. Fang Fang's adoption journey began today when she, and 3 other dogs who are being adopted, made the journey with Ms Du and Yang Dong to Chengdu. Ms Du made frequent stops on the 300km journey so that Fang Fang and the others could stretch their legs, have some fresh air and a drink of water. Once in Chengdu they were checked in to a hotel for a couple of nights. |
