Jurnii is settling in well in her new home. She has met all her cat brothers and her dog sister Jypsey has done a great job of helping Jurnii to settle in and be confident in her new home. Jypsey is willing to share her toys with jurnii and we are happy to see this because although we tried to give her attention and play with her at the shelter, trying to give attention and play with hundreds of other dogs meant that Jurnii only got limited one on one time. Learning 'tug of war' with the rope toy (below) brought out 'aahhh' from us all because it was lovely to watch Jurnii playing and having all the time in the world to do it. She was absolutely made for this family!

Bai Lang flew from Amsterdam earlier today and has now arrived at her new home in Canada! After waiting around for officials to carry out their inspections, Bai Lang was allowed to go home! Her adopter, Lisa, went to collect her and when Bai Lang was let out of her flight crate she went up to her new mommy, put her paws on her shoulders and gave her a big cuddle as if she was seeing a long lost friend! It is a perfect match!  Jurnii (Bai Lang) meets her new mommy Lisa in Canada This sweet, gentle, beautiful little girl deserves all the love she will get from Lisa and her family. We are so very excited. She also has a new name - Jurnii to reflect her Journey from China to Canada. Thank you for your continued support. Your donations helped to make Jurnii better after she was rescued from the streets with severe anemia and a blood parasite. Look at her now! Now is HER time! Time to live out our dream that all our fur children find their forever homes Today, our Husky mix, Bai Lang, flew from Beijing Capitol International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on the first part of her journey to her new family in Canada. A big thank you to the staff at the pet transport company in Beijing who have done a great job of looking after Bai Lang. As you can see in the video, Bai Lang just went to sleep when she was in her flight crate. She will stay over in Amsterdam in a 'pet hotel' for rest, food and water and then her journey from Amsterdam to Canada will begin tomorrow! Bai Lang arrived in Beijing safe and sound. Our pet transport company contact, Ms Wang, went to meet her at the company's 'pet hotel', a holding room for dogs who are waiting for their flight from Beijing. Bai Lang was happy to see Ms Wang who let her out of her cage to relieve herself and have a sniff around the holding room with Fang Fang. Then it was time for Bai Lang to rest and Ms Wang to go back to work. Ms Wang and her colleagues will give Bai Lang human company and love while she waits for her flight date. The day has finally arrived when we say goodbye to Bai Lang and wish her well on her journey to a new home. Bai Lang and Fang Fang, a dog adopted by a family in America, were booked on to the 4pm flight from Chengdu to Beijing. It is bittersweet because on the one hand it is a sad day for us, knowing that Bai Lang will leave us after overcoming anemia and a blood parasite (Eperythrozoonosis) and having to be hand fed by Ms Du when she was rescued, but on the other it is a joyful day because we know that she was the one who was chosen from lots of other dogs to start a new life overseas. Bai Lang was placed in a wire crate, securely taped in place for the short internal flight. For her journey to Amsterdam and then on to Edmonton, she will be placed in an IATA ( International Air Transport Association) approved pet crate. At Chengdu airport, Bai Lang was checked in by Ms Du and helped on to the conveyor belt by our volunteer Yang Dong and another of our workers. She will arrive in Beijing in approx 2 hours 45 minutes where she will be met by the pet transport company staff. Ms Du was anxious that Bai Lang would be scared about the unfamiliar surroundings and noises so when Bai Lang was taken off the conveyor belt and driven away on a cargo handling truck, that point would be the last time that Ms Du would see Bai Lang so she could only shout Bai Lang's name and 'Guai Guai' (meaning good/ well behaved). This little girl will be missed by all the staff at Bo Ai but we are so happy to see her starting her new life in Canada! Ms Du and our volunteer Yang Dong took Bai Lang to Huai Ren veterinary surgery today for her rabies vaccine. There was quite a long time to wait until the vet could see Bai Lang but the clinic stays open until late. Bai Lang was very relaxed about the procedure and didn't flinch when the vet gave her the vaccine. Our volunteer Yang Dong held her and reassured her throughout. Bai Lang is waiting to be flown to her new home in Edmonton, Canada. She was only a little puppy when she was rescued from the streets suffering from severe anaemia and a blood parasite called Eperythrozoonosis. It took months of hard (and sometimes force) feeding Bai Lang by Ms Du and this started a strong bond between the 2 of them. We suspect that Bai Lang was bought by someone and through giving her the wrong diet or a diet high in milk, her previous owners caused her anaemia with this making her susceptible to the parasite catching hold making her very ill. Because her previous owners were unprepared to give her the medical attention that she needed, she was dumped. Now Bai Lang is approximately 18 months old and a healthy girl, ready to start the next chapter in her life with her new family. Bai Lang's adoption journey began today when she, and 3 other dogs who are being adopted, made the journey with Ms Du and Yang Dong to Chengdu. Ms Du made frequent stops on the 300km journey so that Bai Lang and the others could stretch their legs, have some fresh air and a drink of water. Once in Chengdu they were checked in to a hotel for a couple of nights. |
