Jurnii experienced the snow in the colder weather. She never saw snow in China but now she is quite used to it because where she lives they can get lots of it! Her DNA will help her to grow a nice thick coat to keep her warm.

Jurnii spent her second Christmas in America and Lisa took her and Jypsey to see Santa again at the Humane Society. Both of the girls were spoilt by Santa (and Lisa) and now they are experiencing -30° temperatures! Stay warm girls and have a Happy New Year.
Jurnii has just celebrated being in her new home in Canada for 1 year! She has had such a fun packed year with her new family and is loving every minute of her new life in her forever home. Thank you so much Lisa for adopting her. It makes us all so happy to see Jurnii so happy!
In Lisa's words:- "1 year ago today this gorgeous creature came into my life. After months of planning she finally arrived from China. Couldn't have gotten a more perfect girl if I had hand picked her myself. She is truly an angel & couldn't fit in more perfectly into my family. Happy Anniversary sweetie!! 🎈🎈❤❤❤" As well as her dog sister, Jypsey, Jurnii also has cat brothers and she loves to play with one of them in particular; Jax. She is gentle with him and has also licked her other brothers, Jiggy and Jinx but it is Jax who she plays with the most. We love to see dogs and cats getting along like this. There's nothing better than Summer days and cooling down with ice cream but ice cream isn't just a favorite with humans. Jurnii and Jypsey like it too! They enjoyed a tub each when the weather was 30° one day. Spoilt girls ♥ Jurnii also enjoyed a fudgsicle while she played in the sun on another day with Lisa. She definitely enjoyed it! Jurnii had her first road trip, with Lisa and Jypsey to the gorgeous mountains of Canmore, Alberta. in the Rocky Mountains. She enjoyed 2 and a half hour hikes up to Grassi Lake and along the trails and generally had a really great time. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and we have read articles about dogs appreciating views so we know that Jurnii and Jypsey will have had the best time with Lisa.
Lisa takes Jurnii and Jypsey to the Dog Park. Jurnii loves to make new friends and have a wander around off lead. Dog Parks are a great idea. Jurnii had lots of fun and took the occasional break in the shade of the trees to watch her new world go by. Such a lucky girl!
Jurnii has always been a beautiful girl but recently, Lisa posted a 'before and after' post on her Instagram page. Jurnii has put on weight and her coat is lush and fluffy. Like Lisa says, it is amazing what a new mommy and forever home will do. This is very true. Animals thrive in new homes. We wish all our animals could experience this.
We are really happy that Jurnii has settled in so well in her new home. So well infact, that she likes nothing better than chilling and likely thinking what a lucky girl she is. She definitely landed on all four paws!
Lisa took Jurnii and Jypsey to the dog park. It was Jurnii's firat time there and she did really well. She also managed another first while there; being off leash (not tied to Jypsey)! She did really well and we are very proud of her.
Jurnii is always interested in what bone Jypsey has and plots different ways to take it off her. . .
Jurnii is finally learning how to play like a family dog. She is getting the idea that she can play tug of war with Jypsey. This rope toy was Jypsey's first toy at Lisa's. It's lovely to see this photo and video and we can see how Jypsey is a patient teacher with Jurnii although Lisa tells us she will play with Jurnii and the toys but not with the bones! Jypsey is also now showing an interest in playing with the box of 'furries' too. Lisa sent us this video so that we could hear Jurnii's voice again. The video is very funny because she is saying to Lisa "Hurry and put my collar on" because she knows that when the collar comes out, she is going somewhere nice! We are really happy to see her so well adjusted, settled and enjoying Canadian life. Jurnii has been spayed and the operation went smoothly. She also had a tattoo and her teeth cleaned and a microchip for Canada. Jypsey was a little confused as to why Jurnii didn't feel like playing after her op but she will soon be up and back to normal.
The temperature in Edmonton got to -30° so Jurnii was keeping snug and warm inside. She has never experienced such cold in China but staying in bed all day was a good trade off for her.
Jurnii had a great Christmas opening her presents with Jypsey and her cat brothers. Of course, with so many dogs at Bo Ai, one on one time giving each of them presents wasn't possible so we are delighted to see these photos and video. Lisa tells us that Jurnii wasn't sure how to open the presents at first but once she realised that goodies were inside, there was no stopping her! Lisa sent us this beautiful photo of her, Jypsey & Jurnii when they went to meet Santa at the Edmonton Humane Society. Everyone thought Jypsey & Jurnii were related and we think they look like they are related too!
Lisa sent us the photos below. In this photo, Jurnii had arranged her bones like this with her prized marrow bone 'hidden' in the middle so that Jypsey couldn't find it! In the photo below she had just folded the rug over her bones to hide them even more . Clever girl!
Lisa has sent us this absolutely adorable photo of Jurnii smiling. She says this is what she gets every day from Jurnii
Jurnii has been undergoing blood tests and receiving antibiotics for the Eperythrozoonosis parasite that she had when she was rescued by us as a puppy. Unfortunately, Lisa's vet thinks that at the same time she contracted this parasite, another parasite invaded her blood and has lain dormant in her blood but has now resurfaced.
It is the Babesia parasite which is a Malaria like parasite, infecting red blood cells. Jurnii has now begun the 10 day treatment to kill this parasite. In 3 months time she will need to have another blood test to see if the parasite is gone. Snow came early to Jurnii's part of Canada and never having seen it before, Lisa told us that Jurnii didn't quite know what to make of it, just looking at it as if to say "What IS this cold, wet, white thing?!" Lisa took a photo of the moment that night:- The following day she was more open to the idea of this new floor covering and it wasn't long before she was running around in it with Jypsey:- All the dreams we wished for Jurnii have come true. She has a forever home of her own with people who love her.Jurnii's mom, Lisa, has even taught her to sit for a treat! Such a clever girl!
From China to Canada... The perfect happy ending! Lisa was interested to know what breed/s Jurnii had in her so she applied for a canine home DNA test. Taking a swab from Jurnii's cheek, Lisa then mailed it back to the laboratory and we all eagerly awaited the results to find out Jurnii's ancestry!
A few weeks later and the results were back. The report told us that Jurnii one of her parents was a Siberian Husky/ Alaskan Malamute mix. Ms Du knew that Jurnii definitely had Siberian Husky in her and that was reinforced in the ancestry of this parent but the other parent was a more surprising; Japanese Akita/ Chow Chow/ Shiba Inu mix! See below the report for a more comprehensive diagram of Jurnii's ancestry. Lisa has told us that Jurnii is eating all of her food and emptying the bowl. We are really happy to hear this because it means that Jurnii is settling in well and getting used to her new life. She is also gaining some weight. Jypsey is still as eager as ever to play with Jurnii and it's lovely to see her also gaining something from Jurnii's adoption. Although we knew that Jurnii was happy being in the company of other dogs and cats, seeing these photos of Jurnii with her canine sister Jypsey and the previous ones of her with her feline brothers, makes us all smile. Jurnii and Jypsey play and rest together, making each of their lives more fulfilled. |
