While there are no animal protection laws in China to protect companion animals,  our fight for them is via
education events because we believe this is the best way to  help animals in China.  
Most pet owners want the best for their companions but because pet ownership in China is still relatively new, people are still learning.  
We teach those people how to look after their pets and about animal welfare. 
​We teach them that animals feel pain and experience love and that vaccinating and neutering will help to prevent diseases and unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. By subscribing, you will be actively helping us continue to rescue animals in need.  
When we rescue animals, most will need veterinary attention so you will also be helping those animals when they require medical treatment and follow up veterinary visits as well as contributing towards the running of the shelter.

Your sponsorship will also help us to fight the Dog Meat Trade and where that is concerned, education is definitely the key. There are many myths surrounding the eating of dog meat and we teach the public that is all they are - myths.  
Much hype surrounds the Yulin Dog Meat Festival but it only started in the 1990s.  Dog meat has been eaten in certain parts of China for thousands of years.  Overcoming this 'tradition' is our aim and it is heart warming to see the amount of people who are fighting it too. People of all ages attend our education events and they tell us how they are against the Dog Meat Trade. 
When we receive information about a trafficker, restaurant or slaughterhouse dealing in and killing dogs, we approach the authorities for their help.  We have closed these places down and if there are live animals still there, they are rescued and taken to our shelter.  We would rather work with the authorities and close the places down, rescuing the dogs this way but if we have to buy the dogs in order to rescue them, then we will.  We know that this is not the ideal scenario.  Traders will buy more dogs with the money but sometimes we have no choice but to rescue dogs this way.
