This was the second time that Andreas visited our shelter, after meeting our founder, Du Yufeng in Yulin. When they both left Yulin, they flew from Nanning Airport to Chengdu Airport and on to Guangyuan. Andreas provided monetary support by once again, paying some of the veterinary account but he also reimbursed us, through his supporters donations, for sterilizing 300 dogs which amounted to 19, 800 Yuan. Along with this great help, Andreas took Du shopping to buy things for the rescued cats and kittens from Yulin. He also bought a washing machne/dryer for the shelter. At the moment the dogs' bedding is washed by hand and hung out to dry. This means that sometimes, on a not so warm day, bedding is not dry for the dogs to sleep on at night so the machine will be a HUGE help to the workers who take this chore. It will save much needed time in what was, sometimes, back-breaking work. A list of what was bought for us on this visit:-
Two tons of rice: 7.691 yuan (1.053 €)
Pet supplies store 1: 4.
461 yuan (615 €) Pet Supplies Shop 2: 4,281 yuan (€ 586)
Washing machine: 17,850 yuan (2,445 €)
Drugs: 9,566 yuan (1,310 €)
Sterilization costs for 300 dogs: 19,800 yuan (2,712 €)
Now, Andreas and his supporters are helping our disabled dogs by arranging to buy and send to us, wheelchairs so that the disabled dogs can whizz around like the other dogs and not drag their legs on the ground. This will also mean that they can be taken out for walks with the sick dogs.
We would like to thank Andreas and his supporters, once again for donating to help us by buying much needed items for the shelter and for their continued long term support.
At the end of January a visitor came to Guangyuan to see our shelter, dogs and our founder, Du Yufeng.
Mr Andreas Morlok, founder of marine mammal protection organisation, ProWal, contacted us explaining that they had chosen our organisation to support. Andreas and his organisation raised donations so that he could help us by buying things for the dogs when he arrived in Guangyuan. Du met him at the hotel he was staying at and they agreed to meet the day after so that Andreas could look around. Dr Zhong from Huai Ren Pet Hospital in Chengdu was also visiting the shelter so offered to translate for Andreas.
On this visit, Andreas and ProWal donated a total of 12,500 Chinese Yuan! (Approx US$1815).
Some of the money bought:
2000 pounds of rice,
10 x 20kg bags of dog food,
8 x small cages
1 x large cage
8 x thick cotton pads
10 x traction ropes.
The rest of the money, 6000 Yuan, was paid off an emergency bill at the vet hospital.
We are very grateful to Andreas for reaching out and wanting to help and for his supporters for donating money to buy the things we did.. There is another visit planned in a few months and we hope this will be the beginning of a long friendship. Partners for the animals!
Thank you to Andreas and the members of ProWal for your donations and support!
