Bo Ai Animal ProtectionCentre Of Guangyuan
This dog was a stray who came to the area about 10 years ago. Locals say she is very docile. She has an owner who lets her sleep below the stair case to his apartment.
For all these years she has given birth to numerous litters but no one knows what has happened to all the puppies. The owner leaves early in the morning and comes back home late at night. The dog searches for food in the streets and has never had her own food bowl and only sometimes is given a plastic container for water.
Whenever the owner leaves to go back to his home town, he leaves the dog on her own. On March 21st, the dog's owner came back to find her face was severely infected. An animal lover called our founder Du about this. Du and one of our volunteers persuaded the owner to keep the dog but promise to treat her every day. The owner agreed and was thankful for their help.
Du and our volunteer visited the dog every day to treat her face, give painkillers and antibiotics and feed her. They brought 2 bowls, one for food and the other for water. They also gave the dog a box for her to sleep in.
The following photos were taken a few days later. Du and our volunteer were busy at the shelter and it was raining so they reached the dog a bit late. There was no light in the stairway to continue the treatment so they used Du's car lights so that they could see.
On March 29th, the owner again left for his home town. He will not be back for more than a month. Du really wishes she could bring the dog back to her home but there are already many sick dogs there and at the shelter so she decided to visit the dog everyday.
We can only continue to help dogs like this one with your help. We welcome donations so that, even if we cannot take the animals back to the shelter, we can treat them at their homes.
Thank you for your support.
Unfortunately this dog died. His suffering could easily have been prevented if we had been called out sooner and if the owners had knowledge of animal welfare. Your donations help us to perform education events. Thank you.
