Bo Ai Animal Protection Centre Of Guangyuan
Our founder Du Yufeng received a call, from kind hearted member of the public, telling her that a heavily pregnant dog was about to give birth but was being chased away by everyone wherever she went.
Du and our volunteers searched around the given location and finally found her at a car workshop. The dog was young and full of fleas. Although heavily pregnant, she was also skinny.
After winning over the dog’s confidence with food, a leash was put around the dog’s neck and then Du applied some flea medicine. She was put in to Du’s car and taken back to her house where she was given a bath and a good meal which she finished in a flash. Because she was rescued at Xiba in west Guangyuan, Du named her Xi Xi 西西 (West).
That night she passed some blood and broke some of her waters but struggled to deliver. Du injected her with Oxytocin (to contract the womb and stimulate milk glands) and kept an eye on her throughout the night.
With no puppies born overnight, the next morning Du took her to the vet surgery where she was given an emergency caesarian. 3 puppies were delivered but sadly one of the died shortly after birth.
Xi Xi would also have died if she had been left on the streets to try and deliver these very big puppies.
We rely solely on donations for rescues and treatments like Xi Xi’s. You can help us rescue and treat more animals and perform education events to prevent this happening to stray dogs and cats.
Thank you for your continued support.
