Li Ming landed at Heathrow Airport in London, England a few minutes ago. Her new daddy will meet her as soon as the formalities and paperwork have been processed. We can't wait to see them meet for the first time. We will update you as soon as we can.

Li Ming had her last breakfast in China this morning. on the day of the Summer Solstice. Her rescue could have been so much different. Waiting for the family who abandoned her, refusing to move from the demolition site her old house used to be on, she could easily have been picked up by dog dealers who could have sold her in to the dog meat trade if we hadn't rescued her. But now she has started her long journey to a new home overseas. Today, Li Ming went to the vet in Beijing for her health check. She loved riding in the car to the surgery, it was all a big adventure for her. Her handler, Wang and one of her colleagues from the transport company took her so that she felt at ease. The vet gave Li Ming a thorough examination. Somehow from leaving Chengdu and arriving in Beijing, Li Ming has an injured front paw. The vet has given her some medicine and the wound is being kept clean with Li Ming on rest instruction. Li Ming also had her booster Canine Distemper and Canine Parvo vaccinations. After her check up she waited in the waiting room until the vet brought out the vaccination proof to show her adopter, Callum. Today is a big day for Li Ming. In just a few hours she is due to fly from Beijing to Frankfurt in Germany. We are all hoping that when the vet sees her, he will say her paw is ok to fly. She does not limp or seem in pain with it so let us all keep our fingers crossed! Li Ming arrived safely in Beijing. She has had time to settle and has had some dinner and water. She has also been taken out for a walk into the area around the pet hotel. Soon it will be bedtime. In just a few days she will fly to her forever home in her adoptive country, England! Li Ming is a lucky girl. Li Ming spent her last night with Du in a hotel in Chengdu. They spent some quality alone time together and had playtime too. Li Ming had a strong bond with Du because she was the only human she trusted after her rescue. In the morning, Li Ming had breakfast with Du for the last time before she was taken for a walk in the hotel grounds. Then it was time for Li Ming to meet one of our transport company colleagues at Chengdu airport. Li Ming will be leaving Guangyuan tomorrow. She will go to Chengdu airport where one of our pet transport colleagues will meet her, ready to take her back to their pet hotel in Beijing. This is the last time she will have a bath in China. One of our volunteers gave her a nice pampering, which she loved. Li Ming has been enjoying her last walks in Guangyuan with her friends. One of her close friends is Scout, the Golden Retriever who was rescued with Ascites. Li Ming has been there throughout Scout's recovery and always led with him and kept him company after his treatments. Li Ming will be missed by all of us but we are so happy that the time is nearly here for her to go to her new home and daddy, Callum, in the UK! Now that Li Ming has recovered from her spay and is well socialized it is time to book her flight to her new home in the UK. By the third week in June, Li Ming will meet Callum, her new daddy, and her new fur brother, white Husky Kodi. Li Ming has come so far since she was abandoned by her old family. It has taken a long time to rehabilitate her but she has forgotten her old life. We can't wait to see them all meet and enjoy their new lives together. Li Ming is such a beautiful girl now, a far cry from how she looked when we rescued her.
Because Li Ming's new home will be the UK, she needs to have the rabies vaccination and then 30 days later, blood is taken and the serum of the blood is sent to a laboratory in Changchun. This is known as a titre test.
Li Ming had her rabies vaccination and the serum was sent to Changchun. When the results came back the test showed a negative so she was vaccinated again and is waiting for the 30 days to be over for another serum draw to be taken and sent to Changchun. This happens sometimes and is nothing to worry about. |
