The day has arrived when Hei Nui flies from Chengdu to Beijing. Du gave Hei Nui her last breakfast with us, a breakfast of eggs which she loves and that will keep her tummy full until it is time for her next meal in Beijing. Du has feelings of bitter-sweetness because she has nursed Hei Nui back to health from when she was rescued with hardly any fur from a butcher but she knows that Hei Nui will have a great time in her forever home in Poland and will be met at the airport by Tu Tu! Aswell as having her last breakfast with us, it was the last play session Hei Nui had with her babies. These children are very big now and Hei Nui gets tired of their mischief sometimes but she has been a good mother and Du wanted to have them all remember each other so gave them play time before they left for the bus station. The babies will continue to live at Du's house, with the sick and injured dogs, until they are old enough to go to the shelter.

Hei Nui's original flight date was postponed because of logistics so now she will land in Poland on Friday May 5th. She has recovered well from her sterilization surgery and was treated to a pampering ahead of her flight to Chengdu in 5 days. She will fly from Chengdu to Beijing and from there, direct to Warsaw. Hei Nui has enjoyed some pampering ahead of her journey to Poland. She has had a bath and a haircut. She looks more beautiful now that her fur has been trimmed and tidied. Du said she looks like a little teddy bear! Hei Nui's puppies will be available to adopt soon. There are 2 black girls, one white girl and one black boy.
If you are interested in adopting one of these babies, please contact us with the name of your nearest international airport. Hei Nui has been sterilized today ready for her to recover in time for her journey to Poland in a couple of weeks. Doctor Zhong and his team from Chengdu who specialize in female dog sterilization have come to stay at the shelter for a few days to sterilize as many female dogs as they can. Hei Nui came around from the anesthetic well and has eaten. She is a little uncomfortable but is being given painkillers to ease the pain and we expect her to be up and about in no time. Hei Nui is literally run off her paws with her 3 cheeky little babies. She lets them do as they please but she is always there to guide them as they are growing up. Of course, she also tells them off if their mischief gets too much but all in all she is a very good mom. We sent this video to Marzena and the group and they all loved it. Marzena said she played the video while Tu Tu was around and he listened to it. He could recognize Du's voice and maybe perhaps the other dogs as they bark in the background. This made Du very happy that he remembers her! We all look forward to Hei Nui and Tu Tu reuniting and Marzena has said that she will take him to the airport so we know there will be a familiar face to meet Hei Nui. We are very excited! As for Hei Nui's puppies; they will be staying with us in China but they are looking for good homes like their mommy and daddy. If you can offer one of them a forever home, please contact us. Hei Nui will be flying to Poland in April to meet her new mommy Marzena, the animal rights group who made her new home in Poland possible and of course to meet up with Tu Tu! We are all excited to see these 2 meet up again. We know that Tu Tu is loving his new home and family and that Hei Nui will feel exactly the same. Until the time comes for us to say goodbye to Hei Nui, she and her babies can have some extra weeks together. Once Hei Nui is in Poland, hers and Tu Tu's babies will be looking for homes of their own. Can you be their new mommy or daddy?
Fill in our application form if you are interested. Look how beautiful Hei Nui & Tu Tu's babies are! There are 2 black girls and one white girl. The smallest black puppy is a little boy. He is small like his daddy, Tu Tu! We hope that these babies will be lucky enough to find new homes like their mommy and daddy have. We have been introducing bowls for the puppies to start lapping which makes them naturally stop feeding off Hei Nui. The next stage will be to introduce more solid foods. Hei Nui is a really good mother and is looking after her babies very well. The babies are getting bigger now. 3 weeks old, they have opened their eyes and ears and they are beginning to move around more. While Tu Tu was getting ready to go to Poland, Hei Nui was giving birth to puppies! This was a complete shock to us since Hei Nui had been desexed....supposedly! Obviously the desex was not successful so Hei Nui, throughout the night, gave birth to 4 puppies. 3 black and 1 white. Hei Nui showed no signs of being pregnant, she did not put on weight and the only male dog she has been with is Tu Tu! Tu Tu is the father of Hei Nui's babies! Obviously Hei Nui could not go to Poland with Tu Tu. She will stay with her puppies until they are weaned and independent, around the end of February. Ms Du took Hei Nui to Huai Ren veterinary surgery for her rabies vaccine. Her microchip was implanted on a previous visit. There was quite a long time to wait until the vet could see Hei Nui but the clinic stays open until late. Hei Nui was such a good girl on the journey and while we waited at various stops, always happy with her never ending waggy tail. Our volunteer Yang Dong held her and reassured her throughout the procedure. You can hear Ms Du saying 'guai guai' to Hei Nui. This is a generic term for 'good girl/boy' to reassure Hei Nui that is all well. |
