Since the mix up, Happy has been staying at the pet hotel in Beijing. The laboratory were satisfied that the titre test didn't need to be done again so Happy's flight has been booked for him to land in London on Thursday 24th October. In the meantime he has been fussed over and has not been stressed about being in a new place. He is just so inquisitive and wants to explore. Remember, Happy only knew our shelter, he was abandoned by his owner as a puppy so wouldn't have remembered their place so to know that he hasn't been anxious about being in a new place is wonderful because we know he will settle in well in England at is foster carer's house. Afew days before Happy was due to fly to England, Wang Yan at the transport company, left his flight crate open so that Happy could get used to the smells and the feeling of being inside it again. She also learnt Happy to drink from the water bottle which would be attached to the inside of the flight crate door.

Happy was supposed to fly to the UK yesterday (20th September)....but after a mishap with the scanned microchip not matching the number on the paperwork, he must stay in Beijing until just after the first week in October, after the Moon Festival and National Day Holiday. This is a disappointment and we are hoping that the laboratory originally used for Happy's titre test doesn't demand it be done again. Meanwhile, Happy is safe in the pet hotel in Beijing and we are being sent regular updates from our contact, Wang Yan who you can see holding Happy in the video. After an almost 7 hour delay in Chengdu, Happy has arrived in Beijing!! Wang Yan at the pet transport company sent us these videos of Happy exploring their pet hotel after he was taken out of the crate. Happy was given some dinner and cuddles. When it was bedtime, he fought sleep. It had taken him a long time to get to Beijing and he was intent on staying awake until he could do it no more. He's been a very brave boy having to wait so long without being able to see what was happening around him ❤ Tomorrow he will visit the pet hospital for his vet check and health certificate to be issued. Du took Happy to Chengdu, leaving Guangyuan far behind him. Happy was none the wiser that Du would leave him, he enjoyed exploring the new area but soon the time came for Du to take Happy to one of the pet transport representatives who had come to meet them. For the short flight from Chengdu to Beijing, Happy will fly in the crate that Du took to Chengdu. In the crate she placed a blanket and some coats ready for when the British Winter comes. One of the coats is a traditional Chinese design, similar to the one she sent with Tu Tu to Poland. Little Happy will look very smart wearing his Chinese coat in England ❤ Happy has has eaten his last breakfast in Guangyuan. Du gave him a special breakfast like she does all the dogs who fly to new homes abroad. Once Happy had eaten his eggs, Du spent precious one on one time with him. It is a bittersweet time for her when a dog leaves for a new life abroad but even more so for Happy because he is blind and he has known no other life than at the shelter with Du. Happy is happy! He will be leaving China in a few days! Du has been spending time with him and taking him for walks in the park. Although he is blind he copes very well but we are all naturally anxious about him making the 5000 mile journey to the UK. We know he will be OK and know that his fosterer will love him unconditionally. This is an amazing opportunity for Happy and we can't thank Blind Dog Rescue UK enough for wanting to help him. Our volunteers were at the shelter bathing and giving haircuts to the disabled dogs. Happy patiently waited his turn. He loves the pampering and sits patiently while the volunteers dry him and massage him ❤ Happy's titre test has passed so he is ready to fly to the UK. Everyone will miss him, he is a big character in a small body but we know this move is in the best interest of Happy, so that he can be part of loving family. Our volunteer Yao Yao especially loves Happy and gives him regular cuddles ❤ When Blind Dog Rescue UK originally said they would take Happy, we started a fundraiser to raise the costs for the flight. Although people did donate, we still fell short of the total amount. Blind Dog Rescue UK have said they will pay the remaining cost but we're sure you will agree, being a charity themselves the money they would pay for the remainder of the flight will come out of charity donations and would be best used for the blind dogs they look after and rehabilitate. That is why we need your help. Please could you spare the cost of a cup of coffee? If all our supporters did that we would raise the remainder and more. If you can help Happy get home, please donate via the button opposite. Thank you for helping Happy! Because Happy's new home will be the UK, he needs to have a microchip, the rabies vaccination and then 30 days later, blood is taken and the serum of the blood is sent to a laboratory in Changchun. This is known as a titre test. It is UK law and a dog cannot enter unless a titre test has been performed and the dog has pass. Now we must wait for the result to decide when Happy can fly to England. Happy has been weighed and measured for his flight crate. These recordings are given to our partners at the transport company for them to make sure the right size of crate is available for Happy to travel the long journey to England. We wish he could understand what is happening and why..
